Anthropic has introduced mods for Claude Code that let users change its behavior, customize the interface and add their own features, according to an October 1 announcement from its ClaudeDevs account.
Developers can write a mod in TypeScript or ask Claude to build one. Mods are distributed inside plugins and installed using the /plugin command in the command-line interface or desktop application, the announcement said.
One example, Token Weather, displays context-window usage and a sparkline covering the last 12 turns. Another, Blast Radius, flags potentially risky shell commands before execution and shows the files or resources they would affect in a side pane.
A third example, Replay Theater, records file edits made during a turn. Users can run /replay to inspect the changes individually in a docked pane.
Users can keep mods private or submit them to the Claude directory. Anthropic cautioned that mods receive the same access to a user’s machine as Claude Code and advised installing them only from trusted sources.
