Animal Crossing: New Horizons Villager Upstaged During Their Performance By One Chaotic Gyroid

4 days ago 5

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan shared a great performance by one of their villagers, but the real star of the show turned out to be the gyroid behind them. Villagers in ACNH will often join in singing when music is played around them, making some wholesome and cute interactions between players and their NPC neighbors. In this particular case, though, the performing villager was upstaged by a gyroid.

New Horizons player and Reddit user cattyjammies was listening to the metal K.K. Slider record when the purple bird villager Becky joined in. The villager displayed some impressive vocal skills, flawlessly keeping up with the fast and complicated music.

Although Becky's use of her vocal cords is impeccable, the gyroid in the background is the real star. The small dark gray gyroid stands atop the shelf behind the player and villagers, flailing around as though its life depends on it. Comments on the Reddit post agree that Becky sounds great, but the gyroid is the real star of the show.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gyroid Adds Whimsy To The Performance

This Specific Type Of Gyroid "Goes Hard," According to Fans

Gyroids are a unique type of furniture in Animal Crossing that resemble odd little cacti that can often be dug up from the ground after it rains or snows. In ACNH, they can also be acquired by planting and watering a gyroid fragment. There are different types of gyroids in the game, all of which have distinct looks that can be customized with different colors. The gyroid in question is a black wallopoid, distinct for its rounded bell-like body and long, spindly limbs.

Gyroids are based on haniwa , Japanese terracotta figurines that were buried with the dead as part of funerary rituals.

As the name implies, gyroids will gyrate, move, dance, and make noise in a pattern. When music is played around them, they move to the beat, which is what the gyroid in cattyjammies is attempting to do. "Gyroid going hard," says Redditor SaviorSixtySix, while myolliewollie praises the gyroid for fully committing to its role as a backup dancer.

Gyroids Add On To The Chaotic Fun

Animal Crossing villagers singing along with nearby music is a delightful feature that adds to the already incredibly charming game. It's possible to make this a more common part of the ACNH experience with some strategic furniture and decor placement. User merkaba_462 suggests placing speakers around the plaza for villagers to sing along to. They continue: "Put some gyroids around and they keep the party going all day and all night!"
