Animal Crossing player with blathers' special item in pocket camp complete

One Animal Crossing fan has shared their own concept of what the new game in the franchise could look like, excitingly building anticipation for the game's potential to return to its past. With the recent news of the Nintendo Switch 2 launching later this year and the many games that players will be looking forward to seeing in this new generation, it's no surprise that Animal Crossing would crop up as part of this news. Despite no news of a new game, players are still eager to theorize what could come next.

Taking to Reddit with their own ideas for the next Animal Crossing installation, Ok_Care_8866 shows off their own fan-made box art of what they've titled Animal Crossing: Fresh Start. Returning to the roots of what the game once was, this new entry would return to the forest and small rural village feeling while embracing the newer game's look and charm. Blending the best of New Horizons with the nostalgia of New Leaf and Wild World, a game of this kind would certainly be a hit for the fans.

Animal Crossing's Next Game Could Recapture The Magic Of Earlier Titles

Players Might See A Return To Cozy Small Village Living

Explaining their vision, the creator of the Animal Crossing: Fresh Start idea elaborates that the player would begin the game by moving into a small town in the forest, with villagers that return to their previous blend of sassy and sweet personalities. By embracing making connections with villagers, mini-games, and other fun details other than design, players would be brought back to what the franchise once was. While many loved building their own islands in the newer game, it would certainly be a joy to see a blend of the two brought to life.

When The Next Animal Crossing Game Is Rumored To Release

Animal Crossing’s next installment may launch with the Nintendo Switch 2 and feature multiplayer cities, cars, and new adventure missions.

With Ok_Care_8866's incredible new Animal Crossing concept, fans have excitedly shared their similar feelings about the hope for what the next game has to offer. With one fan pleading for them to "Bring the forest back!!", it's clear that this rural aspect is something quite a staple to the game as a whole, and New Horizons unfortunately strips it away. As a lot of players even consider New Leaf the better game overall, there's definitely a lot of nostalgia that could be capitalized on by bringing things back.

A Return To Form Would Be Perfect For Newer Fans

Old-School Animal Crossing Charm For All

The player stood next to a sapling in the Nintendo 64 version of Animal Crossing.

With the news of the Nintendo Switch 2 and the incredible new titles that may come alongside it, a new Animal Crossing game that embraces the charm of the past would be perfect. As older players could enjoy nostalgic elements of the beloved franchise and newer players could dip their toes into a modernized version of these much-loved games, it truly feels like it would be a missed opportunity not to. While the deserted island feel shifted up the game in a lot of fun new ways, players still seem to long for the cozy small town forest feel that the game has always delivered on.

With a lot of newer Animal Crossing players finding themselves falling in love with New Horizons, players have definitely yearned for more content over the years as the game starts to fizzle out. So much so that many have even taken a trip back to play older games like New Leaf too, quickly realizing just how much the newer game is missing out on. As Nintendo has so much potential to deliver with a new entry into the franchise, this new era could be Animal Crossing's biggest yet if they capitalize on what the older games did best.
