Angie Best has shared a health update from her hospital bed as she prepares to undergo her second round of chemotherapy.

The ex-wife of football legend George Best revealed she had been diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this month and confirmed that the disease has spread to her liver.

The mother-of-one has now started receiving treatment for the disease in Switzerland where she has been supported by her son Calum, 44.

In her latest update, Angie, 73, revealed that doctors have advised her to gain weight in preparation for her treatment.

Sharing a clip from her bed on Instagram on Friday, Angie said she was being made to drink an 'awful' high calorie beverage.

She captioned the video: 'All together now, just one cornetto…yes they want me to eat sugar ffs. I have to start second round of chemo on Tuesday.'

In her latest update, Angie, 73, revealed that doctors have advised her to gain weight in preparation for her treatment

In the clip, she was seen saying: 'So I'm back at my favourite place with my favourite nurse, isn't she just a darling - and she speaks English but she's Swiss.

'I've got to gain weight so they've got me drinking these awful things [holds up high calorie shake].

'I can't find a jelly baby bloody anywhere and the only ice cream in Switzerland is a Cornetto for heaven's sake.'

Earlier this week Angie could be seen lying in bed as she told fans she can barely perform simple everyday tasks.

She said: 'Advice needed: I know a lot of you have been through this, but i can't function, I can't lift my head up, I can't brush my teeth, I can't eat. It's terrible.'

Coughing in the clip, she concluded: 'Any advice there, homies?'

Angie also wrote under the clip: 'Apparently feeling like this is normal. Nothing normal about it ffs. If you're suffering right now, we’re here for each other.'

Her son Calum commented on the clip: 'I’m so sorry you're feeling this way and going through this, it will pass and we come out even better I love you.'

EastEnders actress Samantha Womack, 53, who previously suffered from breast cancer, said: 'I wish I was with you... It's rough at the beginning. I'm sending you all my love.'

Angie is receiving Mistletoe therapy, which is so called because it uses extracts from the European mistletoe plant - and is an alternative cancer treatment that has been used in Europe for decades, particularly in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Some practitioners believe it can stimulate the immune system and improve quality of life for cancer patients, though its effectiveness remains debated in mainstream medicine.

It is not a standard, approved cancer treatment on the NHS, as robust evidence of its effectiveness as a cure is considered inconclusive by major UK cancer bodies.

It can be used alongside chemotherapy, which is what Angie is doing.

Calum revealed his mother's diagnosis in a devastating video posted to social media earlier this month.

In the clip, the clearly distressed star said: 'A few weeks ago, my beautiful, wonderful mum was diagnosed with cancer. For as long as I can remember, she has lived her life rooted in health, fitness and wellbeing.

'She has always believed in taking care of the body, mind and soul. But as we all know, cancer doesn't discriminate.

'It doesn't care where you're from, how you live, or how healthy you try to be. And now, it's here – and it's with my mum.'

Calum admitted he 'hasn't cried in years' but has been on an 'emotional rollercoaster' since his mother's diagnosis.

'My mum has been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to her liver,' he explained.

'To move forward, we need access to specialist care and professionals who can offer the right treatment. This is incredibly hard for me to say, but financially, I can't carry this on my own.'

The reality star set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of his mother's specialist treatment, saying: 'Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us access the specialists, treatment and care my mum needs during this time.'
