Angelina Jolie Reveals She & Daughter Vivienne Got Matching Tattoos
Angelina Jolie's children are paving their own paths in the world.
The Oscar winner—who shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox with ex Brad Pitt—doesn't expect her kids to follow in their footsteps by pursuing acting.
"No, I think they're especially shy, very private people," Angelina exclusively told E! News at the AFI premiere of her new film Maria in Los Angeles Oct. 27, "and they want to be private." (For more with Angelina, tune into E! News tonight Oct. 28 at 11 p.m.)
The Salt actress, 49, is receiving Oscar buzz for the film—which hits select theaters on Nov. 27 and Netflix on Dec. 11—in which she plays famed opera singer Maria Callas. And despite already having one trophy under her belt, the praise "feels really nice."
"Any support, or anything that says you did your job well," she continued, "especially when it's one when you care about so much, it means a lot."
While the Atelier Jolie founder's children likely won't step into the spotlight as actors themselves, they are no strangers to set life. In fact, her two oldest kids worked on Maria assisting director Pablo Larrain.
"Mad and Pax were on this one doing AD [assistant directing] work," Angelina told The Hollywood Reporter in August. "They’ve done that quite a few times, and I think that’s good for them."
She added, "Pax tends to do stills and he gets brought in, and Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it."
In fact, having two of her children on set with her for such an emotionally demanding role ended up helping Angelina through filming.
"I have never had a set where my family is not allowed to be there because I’m focusing—I’m not that person," she explained. "You can climb all over me or visit. It really meant a lot that my boys were with me on Maria. When I would have really heavy times, they would come over and just give me a hug or a cup of tea."
"That was probably one of the more intense things was that—usually when I’m expressing that much pain, it’s not in front of my children," Angelina went on. "You really try to hide from your children how much pain and sadness you carry. And so for them to be with you when you’re expressing it at such a level, I think it was the first time they ever heard me cry like that."
She added, "That’s usually for the shower."

Maddox and Pax, as well as their sister Zahara, further supported Angelina when they accompanied their mom on the red carpet for Maria's New York Film Festival premiere in September.
