Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Son Pax Makes Rare Appearance at Sundance Film Festival

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitts son Maddox is starting a new chapter.

Indeed, the 24-year-old, who was born Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, has officially dropped his dad’s last name in the credits for his new film Couture, according to People.

Maddox—who served as an assistant director on the project—also had his name changed in Couture’s production notes, which were provided to journalists at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, per the outlet.

E! News reached out to Brad’s rep but has not received a comment.

The new drama, which premiered in French movie theaters on Feb. 18, stars Angelina, 50, as an American film director who is diagnosed with breast cancer ahead of her trip to Paris.

In addition to Maddox, she and Brad—who split in 2016 after two years of marriage—are parents to Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. However, Maddox is not their only kid who has dropped Pitt from their last name.

In 2023, Zahara ditched her dad's surname while making introductions at her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College. A year later, Vivienne had her name appear as Vivienne Jolie in the program for the Broadway musical The Outsiders, which she worked on alongside her mom.

That same month, Shiloh filed paperwork to change her moniker to Shiloh Jolie on her 18th birthday in May 2024. The court officially approved her request in August of that year.

As it turns out, the move isn’t completely out of the ordinary for the family, considering Brad and Angelina have also previously changed their names. After all, the Maleficent actress was born Angelina Jolie Voight before dropping her dad Jon Voight's last name and using her middle name as her surname instead. Brad—whose legal name is William Bradley Pitt—also chose to go by his middle name when pursuing acting as a career.

And though many of their kids have already followed in their parents’ footsteps by changing their names and working in the entertainment industry, Angelina previously made it clear that they’re not interested in being actors like her and Brad.

"None of them are dying to be on screen," Angelina said of her kids during the 2025 Santa Barbara Film Festival, per People. "They're not interested. They really don't like any of the celebrity part of it.”
