Andy Weir is known for his dramatic sci-fi survival stories The Martian and Project Hail Mary, which were both adapted into blockbuster films. His latest project combines the same focus on action and ingenuity, but with a more surreal concept that feels straight out of The Twilight Zone. Weir is executive producing Exoplanet, a full-cast audio experience written by Benjamin Percy for Audible. It follows the crew of the starship Wild Blue Yonder as they are scattered across time, landing on the same planet in different eras. The thriller releases on Nov. 5, and Audible provided Polygon with an exclusive clip following Science Officer Logan Bowers (John Leguizamo of The Odyssey) as he wakes up injured and desperately tries to find help.

Logan encounters a surreal world that seems plucked from a ‘50s sitcom, where men in matching khakis and women all wearing the same rose-print dresses enjoy picnics in the park and a pigtailed little girl bikes down the streets. Everyone laughs at his pleas for assistance except for a man dressed like an old-timey sheriff. He warns Logan that his screams have alerted an ominous force, and they need to flee before it arrives.

While Logan has found himself in a nightmarish future, First Officer Becca Bang (Ariana DeBose of Hamilton and West Side Story) has to find a way to survive in the past, and Chief Engineer Jeff Shaw (Anthony Mackie) tries to get home to his daughter in the present. The crew must figure out how to communicate with each other across time in order to stop the alien intelligence that tore apart their ship before it can use human technology to reshape reality.

Exoplanet gets across its creepy vibe with immersive sound design from Skywalker Sound and a score from Rob Cairns (Love, Death + Robots). The supporting cast includes Cherry Jones (Succession, The Handmaid's Tale), Sufe Bradshaw (Veep), and Charlie Plummer (All the Money in the World).
