In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom

Great movies not getting the love they deserve at the box office is no new phenomenon. Some of the greatest movies of all time, such as the animated gem The Iron Giant and even The Shawshank Redemption, flopped at the box office only to finally find their audience years later. Thankfully, in the age of streaming, box office bombs often have a chance to redeem themselves almost as soon as their theatrical run is over.

One of the most underrated movies of 2025 is Eternity, an intelligent sci-fi fantasy flick from director David Freyne. The movie stars the trio of Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner, as a stint between Earth and heaven forces Olsen's Joan to pick between her current husband and her first, who was killed during the war. One of the funniest movies of the year, Eternity might've found a positive reception from those who saw it, but, sadly, the film went underseen at the box office. The movie made just $22 million worldwide, despite starring an MCU favorite, and never managed to crack the domestic top five.

After proving popular upon digital release, Eternity made its streaming debut on February 13 and has instantly become a hit. At the time of writing, Eternity is the second most-streamed movie on Apple TV in the U.S., bypassing the likes of Fountain of Youth, The Instigators, and another MCU star-led romantic-comedy: Fly Me to the Moon. However, even the exciting new arrival of Eternity was unable to shift the sports drama F1 from top spot, with director Joseph Kosinski's fast-paced blockbuster dominating the Apple TV charts for more than two months.

'Eternity' Was Beloved By Critics

With a "certified fresh" 77% critics' score and a 90% audience score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Eternity is one of the highest-rated comedies of 2025. The consensus on the site reads, "Marrying a clever spin on the afterlife with an infectious sweet streak, Eternity is a spiritual successor to classic romantic screwball comedies that's worthy of their company." Collider's Ross Bonaime agreed in his review, writing, "Eternity is a step in the right direction for the more ambitious comedies coming out of A24, while also having a broader appeal, which the studio has struggled with." He added, "It's also one of the better theatrical romances to come out in a while, acting almost like a post-life Challengers, just with death instead of tennis."

Eternity is streaming on Apple TV. Stay tuned for more streaming stories.
