US R&B star Ray J has opened up about his working relationship with US president-elect Donald Trump, ahead of his first music tour Down Under.

The One Wish hitmaker, 43, told Daily Mail Australia he was optimistic the Trump administration would be making positive changes for the disadvantaged US urban community, and he would be helping out any way he could.

The singer, who hosts a US political commentary show called The Reality Check and met with Trump in 2022 to talk about job creation, said the Republican may have a spot for him on his administration.

'You know, it's looking like it. He's got four years and I think they will be good. I'm available wherever I can help,' Ray J began.

The Mississippi-born singer said he planned to work with Trump to introduce education and community programs in disadvantaged urban communities.

'I can help as far as strategy side and bulding up the urban communities and educating them, and we can start figuring out how we can dominate on the real estate side.

'There is government funding for certain projects in the neighbourhood, we want to educate the community on how to take advantage of those options. I think the Trump administration can help us moving through!'

He also revealed the very surprising things he loves about life in Australia, as he gets ready to hit the stage at the all-star Juicy Fest across the country.

Ray J said he had never performed an actual tour before and was thrilled that his first ever would be done Down Under.

'I have never been on tour before, this is like my first one! I have always been independent, only done big shows as a one-off,' he began.

'This is a special tour and Australia is one of my favourite countries. I have been here before by myself, so I love it here so to come back here and perform at a festival is a blessing.'

Ray J added he would be turning 44 on Friday, January 17, the same day he would be performing in Melbourne, and was delighted to be celebrating the occasion in Australia.

'I'm going to celebrate it but I don't want to any candles! I'm too old for 44 candles but I am happy to be spending my birthday out here.'

The Mars Attacks actor added one of the things he loved most about the country was how different it was to life in the states.

'I had a great time at the casino in both Sydney and Melbourne! I also caught up with Anthony Mundine, he had just bought a Lamborghini and he let me drive it on the drive side! I was hitting his mirror on other car mirrors as he drove by!'

Ray also revealed the very surprising Aussie restaurant he was a big fan of.

The performer added that he loved Nando's chicken and hoped to see it become more popular in America, where it only has a few restaurants.

The veteran performer is in the country performing as part of the Juicy Fest '25 all star show.

He will perform alongside R&B superstars Ludacris, Akon, Montell Jordan, Fat Joe and many more.

The star will first take to the stage in Fremantle, Western Australia on Wednesday, January 15, and then head to Melbourne on the 17th and Sydney the following night.

Ray J said fans could expect to hear his best known hits, including Another Day in Paradise, One Wish and Sexy Can I.

The singer is the younger brother of R&B superstar Brandy Norwood and has been performing since he was a teenager.

Juicy Fest promoters Matthew Spratt and Glenn Meikle said the line-up was packed with artists responsible for some of R&B and hip hop's biggest hits of the '90s, 2000s, and 2010s.

'Every year we are excited to bring another line-up to Australia and we believe we've come up with a high calibre group of artists that people will be excited to see,' Meikle said.
