A new report has confirmed that Spider-Noir will not be getting a second season on Prime Video. While it is not continuing, another Marvel television show produced by Sony might see the light of day on the streaming platform.
Deadline revealed the cancellation in a Sept. 4 report, although Amazon did not give a specific reason as to why that happened. Deadline pointed out that while Spider-Noir had a strong debut, it dropped off Prime Video's top 10 daily rankings faster than other popular shows like Reacher.
That said, Amazon does not appear to be completely displeased with how the show performed, as it is apparently still interested in making more series based on Spider-Man characters that Sony has adaptation rights to. While a series based on Silk got scrapped, Deadline claims that Amazon and Sony are developing "multiple projects" together, including one for an unspecified character that's "nearing a series order."
A second season of Spider-Noir always felt unlikely

Spider-Noir was a very weird series, so I'm not actually surprised it didn't get a second season. It's a superhero action drama with a 62-year-old lead based on his portrayal of a Spider-Man variant in Into the Spider-Verse. Prime Video let viewers watch the series in both black-and-white and color, doubling the post-production work, and featured very different interpretations of classic Spider-Man villains like Sandman, Tombstone, and Black Cat.
It was an incredibly subversive and weird show, yet it was still incredibly entertaining. While I'm bummed that we won't be getting more Spider-Noir, I can at least appreciate that this one quirky season of superhero television was made at all. There was no big post-credits tease, leaving us wondering what could've come next for its characters, so Spider-Noir thankfully wrapped up nicely.
If you haven't seen the show yet, I recommend checking Spider-Noir out on Prime Video. I prefer it in black-and-white, but you can't go wrong watching either version.
