Amazingly Accurate Animal Crossing: New Horizons Illustrations Of The Characters As Humans Labeled "The Best Designs Ever" By Fans

2 hours ago 4

What would Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters look like as humans? One artist imagines the answer to this question, bringing the adorable animal characters from ACNH into the human world. The game is full of memorable animal characters, from the ever-cheery dog, Isabelle to the best/worst landlord and tanuki, Tom Nook.

In a series of beautifully done drawings, artist jollymalt (shared on Reddit by hobisiana) reimagines these characters as they might look if they were humans. Each image shows a pairing from the game, like Isabelle and Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy, the Able sisters, Brewster and K.K. Slider, and several others.

The drawings perfectly capture the essence of each character, showing not only their design but also their personality, from Tom Nook's reclining but alert posture and beer belly to Leif's iconic cheeks and charming smile. Fans have responded with overwhelming positivity at these depictions, with Redditor screwballramble even calling them "THE best human Animal Crossing designs I’ve ever seen."

Although every one of Jollymalt's beautiful illustrations are spot-on depictions of the ACNH characters as humans, it's their Tom Nook and Isabelle pairing that's captured fans' attention. Reddit user kodiakfilm points out that the Nook and Isabelle pairing looks like "a small town police chief and his scatterbrained secretary." Several commentators also draw comparisons to the cult favorite 1990s series by David Lynch, Twin Peaks. Other comments praise Nook's Tom Selleck mustache and Isabelle's 80s updo.

"IT'S RIGHT THERE": Animal Crossing Fans Fume Over What Could Be A Functional Tool Actually Being A Decoration

Fans are bewildered about why a furniture item in Animal Crossing wasn't made into an actual functional tool, since it would make so much sense.

Another image shared in a comment by the original poster hobisiana gives fans another look at the humanized Nook and Isabelle. This time, the artwork shows the two looking confusedly at a frothy beer and a cute ice cream sundae in a tall cup. In the next panel, the drinks have been switched to their correct owners, Isabelle downing the beer and Nook messily digging into his sweet treat. The adorable images of these and the others really bring the characters to life as their human versions, with gorgeous artwork from Jollymalt.

Animal Crossing As Humans Have A Lot Of Potential For Cosplay

Fashion and Silhouette Translate Better Than A Literal Animal Costume

Animal Crossing has some of the most instantly recognizable characters, thanks to its distinct style and memorable designs. The style is so distinct that it's often easy to tell when a character is from the game. The designs drawn by Jollymalt show how easily they translate to human characters while maintaining enough of their characteristics to keep them easy to recognize.

I don't see Animal Crossing cosplay very often, maybe because of the difficulty of translating an animal character into a human wearing a costume. Thanks to Jollymart, it's easier to imagine these beloved characters as humans. Using the fashion and silhouette of the depicted character opens a lot of possibilities for cosplay ideas. At the very least, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has plenty of beloved characters to adapt, and Jollymalt shows how effectively this can be done.
