Melania Trump Wears Bold Gown to Donald Trump’s Inauguration Ball
Inauguration Day was full of fashionable moments.
While attendees were bundled up as they saw Donald Trump and JD Vance sworn in as the 47th President and 50th Vice President at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 20, there were a few stand-out looks—especially from First Lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump. However, the inaugural balls were truly where fashion shined.
Trump's second inauguration kicked off with a fireworks display at Trump National Sterling on Jan. 19, followed by a performance by Carrie Underwood at the ceremony, culminating in three inaugural balls: the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Liberty Inaugural Ball and the Starlight Ball.
The president and first lady, along with Vance and second lady Usha Vance, all made appearances at the various events. The two couples kicked off the celebrations at the Commander-in-Chief Ball on Jan. 20.
First Lady Melania showed off her first stylish look of the evening, donning a white column dress with a black ribboned design.
For her part, Usha attended the Commander-in-Chief Ball wearing an elaborate sequined navy blue gown, as she walked into the party holding hands with the V.P.

In addition to the fashions, the evening also featured musical performances from Jason Aldean, The Village People, Rascal Flatts, Parker McCollum and Gavin DeGraw.
Historically, the inaugural balls have been part of the day's celebrations, with the first one being held in 1789 after the inauguration of George Washington, according to the White House Historical Association.
The number of official inaugural balls varies year by year, occurring throughout the evening of Inauguration Day, with the highest number of balls ever held during the second inauguration of Bill Clinton in 1997, which saw 14, according to Tatler.
