All Resident Evil Movies Ranked

Since 1996, Capcom’s Resident Evil has defined the horror video game genre, throwing players into a world sprawling with zombies and other mutated creatures. With Zach Cregger’s new film Resident Evil hitting theaters this weekend, we’re heading back to Raccoon City for a ranking of all film adaptations of the beloved horror game.

We start at Fresh on the Tomatometer with the animated Japanese Resident Evil films Damnation, Death Island, and Degeneration, the latter of which features the voice actors for Resident Evil 4′s Leon Kennedy and Resident Evil 2′s Claire Redfield, Paul Mercier and Alyson Court, reprising their roles. Then, we go to filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson’s live-action hexalogy. The latest Resident Evil marks the first live-action adaptation in five years, after the franchise attempted an unsuccessful reboot in 2021 with Welcome to Raccoon City. Cregger’s film has already been Certified Fresh, making it the only one in the franchise to earn the honor and shooting it to the top of the list. See below for the full ranking!
