The "Forge It Anew" quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker rewards Coen with the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, the legendary greatsword referred to in the "Arbiter's Blade" achievement. To restore the Broken Sword of St. Mihai, it is essential to find all sword shard locations as well as an Uriashi blacksmith. As the quest won't tell you where to go, however, it's very hard to locate them.

Here's how to locate the Uriashi blacksmith and where to find the sword shards in The Blood of Dawnwalker's "Forge It Anew" quest.

'Forge It Anew' quest walkthrough in The Blood of Dawnwalker

To obtain "Forge It Anew" in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you must either stumble upon a sword shard in the wild or complete a quest called "A Monk and a Saint." This quest, in turn, can be obtained by investigating the Svartrau Cathedral's courtyard or by completing "Echoes of Silenced Bells."

Once you've obtained the Broken Sword of St. Mihai by completing "A Monk and a Saint," the "Forge It Anew" quest tasks you with finding the sword shards (three in total) and an Uriashi blacksmith. Here's an overview of your next objectives:

  1. Complete the sub-quests, "Do Not Disturb," "Executive Order," and "Hostile Takeover," in any order.
  2. Find the Uriashi blacksmith.
  3. Reforge St. Mihai's sword.

Neither the Uriashi blacksmith nor the sword shard locations are marked on your map. You can keep questing until someone rewards you with more info, use towers to scout the map for points of interest, or follow the rest of this "Forge It Anew" walkthrough to uncover the locations. In total, this quest will take up 12 time segments.

Sword shard location #1 — 'Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb' walkthrough

The first sword shard location is in Maragir Wealds, the northeast part of Vale Sangora. Approach the massive, slanted rock in the forest northwest of Maragir Wealds Watchtower to start the "Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb" sub-quest.

Using focus mode, follow the blood trail to the cave in the northeast and defeat the kobolds. Feel free to investigate everything inside the cave, but don't leave before you've at least picked up the sword shard at the back, which costs three time segments. It's also useful to take a look at the mural while you're here, as it will mark the two remaining sword shards on your map.

Sword shard location #2 — 'Forge It Anew: Executive Order' walkthrough

The second sword shard location takes us to St. Tyna's Grove, east of Svartrau City. It's not far southeast of the Crossroads Inn (the old inn) where you may have met with Anca during previous quests.

Follow the road east, leading deeper into the kobolds' den. Investigate the den to find a letter mentioning an Uriashi blacksmith (more on that later). Unfortunately, it appears the sword shard has been stolen by soldiers after they'd massacred the kobolds. To find the sword shard, clear the soldiers' camp in the swamp to the southwest, directly south of Tantari.

The shard is in the richly decorated tent. Collecting the shard requires three time segments.

Sword shard location #3 — 'Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover' walkthrough

The third and final sword shard location in The Blood of Dawnwalker is found in Rockfalls, west of Svartrau City. It's on the plains east of Westridge Outpost, though it's easier to start from the Giant's Paws shrine and travel through the forest.

Enter the den to defeat the miniboss Munch-Munch, an oversized kobold. When Munch-Munch is dead, investigate the nest at the back to obtain the final sword shard. Again, this will move time forward by three time segments.

Find an Uriashi blacksmith in The Blood of Dawnwalker

To discover the location of the Uriashi blacksmith, you must read the letter left on the soldier's corpse in the second sword shard location as described above ("Executive Order"). Another way to discover the whereabouts of the Uriashi blacksmith, is to find Uriashi village, help The Elder, and ask her about it afterward, but beware that this can easily take two hours of playtime or more.

Of course, you can also travel to the Uriashi blacksmith without obtaining any clues. Her hideout is in the northwest corner of Briar Sloughs.

When she asks why you wish to reforge St. Mihai's sword, tell her you want to kill Brencis, and she'll agree to help.

Hand the three sword shards to the Uriashi blacksmith and she'll turn the Broken Sword of St. Mihai into the Restored Sword of St. Mihai. The sword is now "epic" quality, but the "Forge It Anew" quest is not yet finished. As the Uriashi blacksmith explains, you can turn the sword into a "legendary" grade weapon by tempering it.

To do so, enter the cave in the northwest. Approach the red veins carefully and use the "cut through the veins" interaction prompt (don't try to hack through them manually, it won't work). Defeat the undead horde in the pit below — they're not particularly hard to defeat on their own, but beware that there are about a dozen of them.

In the next room, spend three time segments to perform the ritual and temper St. Mihai's sword. Again, you have to battle several waves of undead enemies. Once they're defeated, Coen will receive the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai, a legendary greatsword. The Blood of Dawnwalker's "Forge It Anew" quest is complete, and you'll also unlock the "Arbiter's Blade" achievement.
