Mystery Gifts in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet no longer have to be mysteries. These freebies are often given out to players to get helpful items and new Pokémon, and they can be used by anyone, whether you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership or not. This is a great way to fill out your roster and get Pokémon you may not be able to in this game otherwise.

Most of these phrases expire at set dates, giving you a timeframe you can account for when you try to get every offered item. Although the first Mystery Gift codes in the game have long expired, there are still plenty to redeem now or in the next few months.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are adding one of its biggest and most exciting raids and several other events to serve as a final capstone for 2024.
Thankfully, you do not need an Internet connection to redeem active codes. Some codes may require you to download the DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, so don't be surprised if some don't work when you only have the base game. The codes for December 2024 include:

The final code is downloaded online once you have the DLC for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Look online for this reward, as the Mythical Pecha Berry could be used to help win a challenging battle within the game's content expansion.
It was previously possible to get unique Mystery Gift codes for pre-ordering Pokémon Scarlet & Violet or purchasing the game within the first few months of release. Still, those have all expired and are no longer applicable to new purchases.
Suppose you are lucky enough to attend the World Championships this year. In that case, you can receive a few different mystery gifts that are being distributed in person and cannot be received otherwise.

Unfortunately, for those who have been playing for a while, none of the codes for December are all that exciting since they primarily consist of things that would aid those still working on their team or filling out their Pokédex. That being said, if you are a newer player, the quick balls should aid in catching more Pokémon and save you some money, while the evolution stones and vitamins will prevent you from purchasing or finding them in Paldea.
How To Use Mystery Gift Codes
Go To The Poké Portal
You must unlock at least one Pokémon Center in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet before you can claim Mystery Gift codes. Depending on how long you agonize over which starter you should choose, this should not take more than an hour or so of gameplay. Then, you can head over to your menu.

Catching the Kitakami Pokémon can lead trainers to great rewards, including one that can benefit those wanting to build their team's power further.
When you enter the menu, the Poké Portal will become available, which you will want to select. You will see an option for “Mystery Gift,” after which you will have several more options. You can download Mystery Gifts from the Internet, which is the DLC-specific Mystery Gift, but you can also select the Code option to enter any of the codes above.

Updates & Events In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet
Shiny Rayquaza Joins Tera Raids
The biggest event in December in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is the Tera Raid Battle against Shiny Rayquaza. This is a highly anticipated event that's been announced for a while now and will finally be occurring on the following dates:
- Event Begins: Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm PST
- Event Ends: Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:59 pm PST
Shiny Rayquaza will appear in this Tera Raid event as a 5-star raid with a Dragon Tera Type. All Rayquaza encountered during this event will be shiny no matter what, as it is one of the conditions of the event, so you won't need to worry about tracking down any specific raid looking for one.
The Shiny Rayquaza from the Tera raid boss battle can only be caught once per save file . If you caught this Pokémon in a previous raid, you cannot attempt to capture it again.
Once you've tackled and conquered the raid the first time, don't forget to keep participating in them to earn even more rewards that may aid you in future tera raid events. While you can't catch Rayquaza twice, you can receive every other reward from the raid any additional time you complete it. Finally, be sure you redeem every December 2024 code in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet before they're gone. Otherwise, you may miss out on the rewards for good.
