Alexander Skarsgård's new raunchy comedy offers a one-night special screening.

Ever since the first trailer for Wicker dropped online, the hype has been unexpected. Reactions sparked viral "thirst" videos across social media, with intrigued audiences joking about Skarsgård's unique-looking wicker man and his protagonist's intimate scenes with Olivia Colman. As a result, demand for a 4DX screening has grown, and the studio has granted that wish.

Black Bear announced a special immersive 4DX screening of Wicker for a one-night event on October 28, just two days before its worldwide U.S. release. Those tickets are now on sale. In fact, since the confirmation, several theaters are listing the screenings as sold out or nearly full. The studio's Head of U.S. Theatrical Distribution, David Spitz, spoke about the matter, saying:

“From the moment the trailer landed, audiences understood that Wicker could be something different, and they started asking to experience it in 4DX. What’s particularly exciting is seeing this wholly original film connect with audiences who might not ordinarily see themselves in the audience for a film like this. 4DX gives us a chance to lean into everything that makes it special, while giving audiences exactly what they asked for.”

CJ 4DPLEX COO Paul Kim couldn't agree more: "Wicker is exactly the kind of bold, imaginative film that demonstrates what 4DX can bring to theatrical storytelling." He also said, "Its wonderfully unconventional world gives us an opportunity to use motion and environmental effects in unexpected ways, creating an experience that draws audiences deeper into the story. We’re thrilled to partner with Black Bear to bring Wicker to audiences in 4DX.”

Co-director Eleanor Wilson was "surprised how much 4DX enhances the experience of watching our film." She teased, "The comedy is so much more hilarious while you’re being rocked out of your chair, and the more subtle environmental shifts really situate you in our strange world." Director Huston Fischer "thought this was a joke. But now it's real. And it's spectacular."

The 4DX format is an immersive viewing experience in which the seats move in response to the movie's action, like a theme-park ride. The effects also include wind blasts, strobe lightning, and water sprays. PLF usually offers it for action-packed movies. In recent years, the format has grown in popularity, driven by movies like Twisters and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Although Wicker is far from an action movie, audiences were curious about the effects of the intimate scene and joked that 4DX could make for an intriguing viewing experience to enhance the comedy. Meanwhile, the upcoming romance comedy is already a festival hit after its Sundance premiere early this year. Reviews for Wicker are very positive, and the movie has a solid 90%.

The upcoming fantasy comedy is based on Ursula Willis' short story, "The Wicked Husband," which follows a Fisherwoman (Colman) whose romance with a wicker man sparks jealousy and challenges the village's social order. Elizabeth Debicki, Marli Siu, Nabhaan Rizwan, Richard E. Grant, Peter Dinklage, and Ben Ashenden round out the supporting cast.

Wicker will be released in U.S. theaters on October 30, 2026.
