Soccer Star Alex Morgan Announces Retirement and Pregnancy In Tearful Video

Alex Morgan and Servando Carrasco are growing their team.

Indeed, the soccer star couple announced Alex is pregnant with their third baby in a sweet Mother’s Day post.

“Mother’s Day feeling extra special this year,” Alex wrote in the May 10 post. “Excited to welcome baby #3 this Fall.”

The accompanying video sees Alex, 36, and Servando, 37, as well as their older kids Charlie, 6, and Enzo, 14 months, walking in front of a camera on the beach. Once everyone is in place, Alex turns to reveal her baby bump, to which her daughter kisses. Then, Alex and Servando share a kiss before the entire family hugs as they take in a beautiful sunset.

Naturally, the couple received tons of love in the comments. The National Women’s Soccer League wrote, “Charlie and Enzo will be the best siblings.”

Meanwhile, other star female athletes including Alex’s teammates Ali Kreiger and Mallory Swanson, as well as track Olympic superstar Allyson Felix added in the comments, “Congratulations.”

Alex and Servando's latest milestone comes shortly after she announced her retirement from professional soccer in tandem with her pregnancy with Endo in 2024. At the time, the pro—who helped the USWNT score two FIFA World Cups during her 14 year career—noted she felt she was leaving women’s soccer in “an amazing place.”

"We're in good hands, the future of women's soccer, the now, the present and the future of women's soccer is in such an amazing place where I have done everything that I've needed to do,” she said during her 2024 retirement announcement, per ESPN. “To see those players step on the field and do work and be able to do it at such a young age with such voice and such confidence, that's what this is all about.”

And while Alex retired ahead of welcoming her second baby, she previously emphasized why it was so important for her to continue playing after welcoming Charlie in 2020—to act as a trailblazer for other women athletes to do the same.

It was basically a blank slate—which gave me the opportunity to make an impact and push for change,” she explained to Spread the Jelly in 2025, “and it made me think of the athletes who had kids before me with even less support. I respect them and their journeys but it made me realize how much work we had to do.”

As she put it, “You spend your life thinking you live in such an advanced country, with resources and opportunities to help people go after their dreams, but moms face so many barriers that make it harder to do both.”

So, Alex opted to lead by example.

“I wanted to help my teammates without kids understand why we all needed to advocate,” she considered. “For me, for other moms on the team, for future moms.”
