EXCLUSIVE: Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Anjli Mohindra (Bodyguard), and Shaun Parkes (Mangrove) will lead the cast of ITV legal thriller Saviour.
Deadline first revealed Saviour in December 2024, with production set to get underway in Liverpool through Nisha Parti’s (The Boy With the Topknot) Parti Productions and Drama Republic, the UK producer behind Amazon Prime Video series Steal and Netflix’s One Day.
Parti has been developing the six-part series for years, working with Imran Mahmood, a criminal barrister, novelist, and screenwriter. She said it was a “dream come true” to get Saviour into production. Your Honor writer Peter Moffat is an executive producer.
Saviour follows Ben, played by Archie Fisher (Death by Lightning), who, after borrowing his dad’s police uniform for a costume party, gets into an altercation that results in a man’s death. He is represented by the recently promoted criminal defence attorney Indy Sangar, played by Mohindra.
Indy is also up against a formidable adversary in Detective Inspector Jon Creasy (Parkes), who is determined to get to the truth, despite efforts by his colleague Eddie (Gillen), who is ruthlessly intent on clearing his son’s name.
Cast also includes Abhin Galeya (Grace) as Indy’s husband Dev Sangar; Tobias Jowett (William Tell) as Sai Bajwa; Nethra Tilakumara (Tell Me Everything) as Nita Sangar; Angus Wright (Bank of Dave) as Lionel Knight; Claire Goose (Silverpoint) as Romy; Adjani Salmon (Dreaming Whilst Black) as Mac; Campbell Wallace (Midas Man) as Bing; and Precious Wura Alabi (Boiling Point) as Xenia Cruz.
All3Media International will distribute internationally, while the series has also secured funding from the Liverpool Film Office through its Liverpool City Region Production Fund. Matthew Patnick (The Night Manager) is a producer, while Leanne Welham (Pachinko) and Annetta Laufer (The Forsytes) direct. Frances Poletti (Without Sin) and Namsi Khan (Virdee) will write episodes.
