WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for GREEN ARROW 2024 ANNUAL #1!Oliver Queen officially returns to Starfish Island—the infamous isle that forged him into DC's Green Arrow. His return brings with it a major revelation—not only that he’s now the reluctant babysitter to a group of children, one of whom may be Roy "Arsenal" Harper's newest child, but something that could reshape a key part of the Emerald Archer's origin.

With a release date set for November 6, 2024, Joshua Williamson’s Green Arrow run wraps up with the 48-page Green Arrow 2024 Annual #1, featuring art by Sean Izaakse, Amancay Nahuelpan, and Romulo Fajardo Jr. The issue takes an unexpected turn as an older Oliver Queen is shown traversing a lush, rainforest-like environment he identifies in his narration as the island that started it all.

But he’s not alone—alongside him are five excited children he claims to be babysitting. Although their identities aren’t explicitly revealed, Oliver refers to them collectively as “children of some of the best heroes—and villains—in the world.”

Despite Oliver’s attempts to sneak away for a nap, the children quickly pile on, pleading for a story of his heroics, with requests ranging from him beating Batman to saving the Justice League. However, a red-haired child—an uncanny, smaller version of Roy Harper—asks for the story of the time Oliver “missed,” noting how Oliver always shares tales of hitting the target. Oliver, amused, responds that the child is just like their father but agrees to tell the story. This playful exchange hints even more strongly that the child might indeed be Roy’s, given the bold and unconventional request.

Oliver begins, recounting how he had just returned to Star City after his first time on the island, essentially beginning his journey as a hero. The preview cuts off here, teasing fans that they are about to hear the story of the one time DC’s ultimate archer missed his mark. This intriguing premise promises to unfold into a memorable story, potentially bringing significant revelations about Oliver’s origins as it takes place right at the outset of his heroic career.

Who Are the Hero/Villain Parents of DC’s Latest Generation of Characters?

Although the story begins years in the future, it's clear that the Annual will primarily focus on the flashback. Still, fans will be intrigued by Oliver’s group of children, especially since the red-haired child suggests that the Arrow Family is destined to grow even more. This red-haired kid is almost certainly Roy’s, given their Arsenal-colored attire and the arrow pendant around their neck, yet the identities of the other children remain a mystery. Some of these children are likely tied to Green Arrow's family, while others may be the offspring of Titans, considering Arsenal’s connection to the team.
