Nearly three years have passed since Netflix and Wit Studio first announced their remake of One Piece at Jump Festa 2024. And after what can only be described as an agonizing wait, the series is finally ready to make its full debut in February of the coming year. However, despite the anticipation surrounding the remake, Netflix has been keeping the series under tight wraps so far.
In fact, it was only quite recently that the remake revealed its release date, episode count, along with its first real poster on May 5, seemingly as part of Luffy's birthday celebrations. That said, the 2026 Annecy Film Festival has brought with it a much-needed update on the One Piece remake. Only just yesterday, Netflix shared a new key visual for the first episode of the One Piece remake, and now joining it is an all-new trailer for the series.
Amidst the mounting disappointment at the lack of a real good look at the series even after three years, Netflix has finally shared a new trailer for the One Piece remake. The trailer was screened at the 2026 Annecy International Film Festival during a Netflix panel earlier today, and is evidently one of Netflix's biggest anime releases planned for 2027.
More importantly, the new trailer finally gives fans an actual glimpse at the series itself and its animation, which was much needed after the constant deluge of just concept art for the last few years since the One Piece remake was announced. Given how previous trailers have only been a compilation of concept art, this new teaser is arguably the One Piece remake's first real trailer in years, and it was long overdue.
One Piece's Remake Will Be Well Worth the Wait
All that said, while the watercolor art style of the concept art was quite beautiful, as seen in the newly released poster and trailer, the series' actual art style and animation is quite stunning in its own regard. More importantly, the remake appears to be staying quite faithful to Eiichiro Oda's early art style and character designs.
The One Piece: Here's Exactly How Much the Netflix Remake Will Adapt
Netflix's One Piece remake finally has a confirmed release window, and with that news comes the reveal of how much of the manga it will adapt.
As such, even though the One Piece remake will be modernizing the series in many ways, it seems like it could still capture some of the nostalgic charm of the original series. While it's taken its sweet time, One Piece's remake has finally unfurled its sails and is sailing full speed ahead towards its February 2027 premiere and for now, it looks like the remake will be worth the long wait.
