Netflix subscribers are no strangers to long waits for their favorite shows to return. The best part of three years separated the first and second seasons of Wednesday, and the final outing of Stranger Things stretched the patience of millions with a 40-month wait. However, the wait isn't likely to get easier anytime soon, with the only real resolution to fan frustration coming in the form of a final release that blows them away.
That's exactly what has happened with the return of One Piece, which took almost three years to arrive following the success of the 2023 first season. Sporting a perfect 100% score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the delay for The Straw Hats' return, due partly to the 2023 Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes, proves that good things come to those who wait. The critics' consensus on the review site reads, "One Piece Season 2 offers higher stakes, a larger scope, and plenty of adventure without buckling under the pressure of being a near-perfect live-action adaptation."
Season 2, subtitled Into the Grand Line, sees Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the rest of the crew return in high-octane chaos, as they "set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn." The synopsis for Season 2 continues: "As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies."
