Many of the inhabitants of Ooo have had their time to shine since Adventure Time came to an end, with spin-offs such as Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake spotlighting recurring characters. However, the whereabouts of Finn and Jake have, of course, been on many fans' minds, and this comic aims to deliver a satisfying answer.

Adventure Time fans should be reassured by writer and artist Nick Winn's confirmation that everything fans have come to love about Adventure Time will be present in this new storyline. He states that the series was an important part of his own youth, and that this opportunity to return to Ooo has been meaningful. As Winn said:

Being able to revisit the land of Ooo through Oni Press has really been such a joy and a challenge to build something new while still keeping the energy and charm the show cast on me in middle school!
