Stardew Valley dogs and cats

Stardew Valley is only supposed to give players one animal as a pet, but one lucky player accidentally got two. The game is a charming life and farming sim that allows players to get to know villagers, take care of livestock and chickens, uncover the secrets behind the valley, and, of course, have a pet dog or cat.

After finishing the cutscene where players receive a dog or a cat as a pet, Reddit user Objective_Rip_2993 found themselves with not one dog, but two. The player thought the second dog would disappear after some time passed, but it seems to have become a permanent resident of their farm.

The two dogs, which the Redditor named Knox and Snooch, look the same, with identical markings. Other players in the comments are saying that this is the luckiest kind of glitch to get, and wishing they could also have twin dogs running around on their farms.

Fans Wish There Was A Chance To Get Two Pets On The Farm

Update 1.6 Added The Ability To Buy Another Pet

Stardew Valley lets players choose between a dog or a cat as a pet to hang out on the farm or inside the house. The recently added Stardew Valley Update 1.6 added the ability to let players buy more pets, so it's not that unusual anymore to have more than one dog or cat on the premises. Still, in a comment on the Reddit post, Nome_Super_Daora writes that Concerned Ape, creator of Stardew Valley, "should make it a feature, there's a small change you can find a new pet in your farm."

A custom crossover between two life simulation games has fantastic results, even with the major shift in style from Stardew Valley to The Sims 4.

The idea is slightly different from being able to buy and choose other pets. Instead, the cat (or dog) distribution system would be at work in the game, giving players the chance to acquire an extra pet who happens to wander onto their property, just like in real life. This would add a fun random element to a game that already brings many players joy.

Stardew Valley Glitches Aren't Always Bad

The Game Has Some Charming Glitches

While other games struggle with game-breaking bugs and glitches, Stardew Valley players manage to get the best kinds of glitches instead. Although ConcernedApe does his best to keep the game as bug-free as possible, some issues do sometimes sneak through the cracks and into players' games.

These tend to be cute at worst, and hilarious at best, sometimes leading to mysteriously multiplying farm animals. Other times, as 404filefound from Reddit found out, a glitch can result in the player's horse selling them ice cream. Players love discovering these silly bugs and glitches, which just seem to add to the charm of Stardew Valley.
