I understand why achievement hunting gives some people the ick, but I love when a game has a good set of milestones encouraging me to try features I would typically avoid, interesting new strategies, or unusual choices. Want to keep testing your knowledge of gaming trivia? We've got loads more PC Gamer quizzes, on everything from healthbars to weird currencies to absurd patch notes.

But enough of my complaints. Today's quiz is about how many achievements you can recognize or logically guess based on the descriptions. I haven't edited anything about them—no cleaning up the goals or cutting clues. You're getting the exact achievement name and its in-game description.

You've got 12 minutes to tackle all 17 questions. When you're done, let us know how you did, and maybe share a story or two about some of your own favorite feats or most dreaded grinds. As for myself, I just finished collecting everything in Control, and I can't believe they had me use Shield Rush 100 times. Misery.

Andrea has been covering games for nearly a decade, picking up bylines at IGN, USA Today, Fanbyte, and Destructoid before joining the PC Gamer team in 2025. She's got a soft spot for older RPGs and is willing to try just about anything with a lovey-dovey "I can fix them" romance element. Her weekly to-do always includes a bit of MMO time, endlessly achievement hunting and raiding in Final Fantasy 14. Outside of those staples, she's often got a few survival-crafting games on rotation and loves a good scare in co-op horror games.
