After Abbott Elementary season 5 ended on April 22, 2026, season 6 of the sitcom is set to premiere on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, on ABC. Because many people adore the show's characters and storylines, there has been a lot of interest in everything there is to know about Abbott Elementary season 6. Now, a new tease of the upcoming return has given viewers even more to be excited about.
On August 22, 2026, the official Abbott Elementary Instagram page shared two photos of the show's main actors in costume as their beloved characters posed in front of the titular school's entrance. The first of the two images showed the cast posing like something akin to a family photo, as they sported smiles and looked like a lovely group. The second image showed almost all of the actors seemingly in character, with most of them in fun poses, aside from Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie and William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson.

In addition to the show's official account, many of Abbott Elementary's cast members also shared the images on Instagram. That includes Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
In several ways, the photos could arguably be the perfect tease of Abbott Elementary season 6. For fans who are averse to having jokes and storylines spoiled for them, it is ideal because those viewers will have nothing to worry about from the photos. Additionally, the show is so beloved that it can easily be argued that simply seeing the series' popular cast back together in any form is tantalizing enough.
However, the biggest draw of the photos is that they exemplify how well the stars of Abbott Elementary understand their characters, which is immensely important. In the second in-character image, every actor is posed in a way that fits who they play in the show to perfection. For example, Gregory has his arms crossed as he looks serious, while Mr. Johnson stands looking effortlessly cool. Of course, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Jacob is posed looking overly enthusiastic and Barbara looks as sweet as ever.
After Abbott Elementary season 5 had an excellent debut episode, fans of the sitcom already had every reason to have high hopes for the upcoming season 6 premiere. Still, after seeing this tease that really hit the mark, they have even more reasons to expect lots of laughs and great storylines when the show returns.
