Abbie Chatfield has taken time out of her holiday to celebrate democratic victories in the US midterm elections.

The outspoken podcaster shared a video on her Instagram Story on Wednesday night in which she endorsed Democrat Abdul El-Sayed.

El-Sayed will be the first Muslim US Senator after he defeated Republican Mike Rogers in a fiercely contested and vicious Michigan Senate race.

'This is amazing,' the 31-year-old enthused in her video.

'Considering what Abdul has been through this election cycle, and the Islamophobia against him. The hatred towards him,' she continued.

Chatfield said that El-Sayed's win 'during this time is amazing' and criticised the way El-Sayed has been characterised.

'The questions he's been asked about things completely irrelevant to the race because of him being Muslim, and being a Muslim man, who's trying to run against a non-Muslim man,' she said.

The left-wing influencer promised she would have more to say about the election results in the coming days.

She also rejoiced at the victory of James Talarico in the Texas Senate race, and Amy Acton's win in Ohio.

'If you heard the pod about the Ohio race, you'll understand why it's especially good that Dr Amy Acton has flipped Ohio blue, beating Vivek Ramaswamy!' Abbie wrote.

El-Sayed's victory was one of the political earthquakes on midterm election night that saw Democrats retake control of both the House and Senate in a devastating blow for Donald Trump's final two years in the White House.

By Wednesday morning, a series of deep-red states had turned blue to help Democrats seize Congress in results that could mark the beginning of the end of the MAGA era.

In Texas, Democratic newcomer James Talarico defeated Trump-backed Republican Ken Paxton, while South Carolina elected a Democrat senator for the first time since 1998.

Most remarkably of all, Kansas sent a Democrat to the US Senate, which it had not done since 1932 during the Great Depression.

There were further stunning Democrat Senate victories in Iowa and Ohio, states Trump won by more than 10 points in the presidential election in 2024.

'Michigan, we did it,' El-Sayed, 42, exclaimed before a crowd after his win was confirmed.

'To President Trump, I know you struggle with my name. So after JD swears me in, you can just call me senator,' he said, referring to the vice president.

Republicans have not won a Michigan Senate race since 1994, have not won this particular seat since 1972 and have not won a non-presidential statewide election in the state since 2014.
