A24‘s acclaimed horror film Heretic, starring Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East, is set to begin streaming exclusively on Max in the U.S. on Friday, March 7. Written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the duo that broke out with their script for A Quiet Place, the film debuts on HBO linear on Saturday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

In Heretic, two young missionaries (Thatcher and East) from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed (Grant), becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

The film premiered at the Toronto Festival in September and was released in the United States by A24 in November, grossing over $57 million worldwide. Grant’s villainous turn garnered him Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globes, as well as the Critics; Choice Awards, and BAFTA Awards.

Pic’s producers included Stacey Sher, Beck, Woods, Julia Glausi, and Jeanette Volturno.
