While Eisenberg is known for his roles in The Social Network, Zombieland, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the Now You See Me movies, he is now also doing work behind the camera as a director, writer, and producer. The latest film he has directed, written, and produced is A24's The Debut, starring Julianne Moore as a withdrawn woman who auditions for and lands the role in a musical, with the director of the production played by Paul Giamatti. The movie has been gaining Academy Awards buzz as it plays at various film festivals.
After working together on The Debut, Deadline reports that Eisenberg and A24 are working on a television series together. If the show comes to fruition, it would be the first television series that The Social Network star has ever directed, written, or produced, as he takes on all three responsibilities for this project. As part of his A24 deal, Netflix Chief Content Officer Peter Rice, who previously worked for Disney and Fox, is executive producing the show as well.
While the series does not have a title yet, it is reportedly based on a short story written by Eisenberg about a young woman whose beliefs are challenged by new relationships and ideas. This builds on the filmmaker's previous tease about the story of exploring the beginning of culture wars through the lens of an 18-year-old young woman in the fall of 2002.
It is possible, though not confirmed yet, that the source material is a short story from Eisenberg's 2016 book collection Bream Gives Me Hiccups. One of the stories is centered on a character named Harper Jablonski, who is a college freshman having a difficult time navigating the university experience. He developed a Bream Gives Me Hiccups television adaptation for Amazon and A24 a decade ago that did not move forward, nor did the single-camera comedy The Market in collaboration with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV.
Due to Rice's involvement as an executive producer, Netflix seems the most likely streaming home at this juncture for Eisenberg's television series. The platform is already home to the Emmy Award-winning thriller Beef, which is produced by A24, and coming off of its second season. The upcoming Trigger Point starring Joel Edgerton and an untitled spy drama featuring Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour are also coming from A24.

Rearrange the movies into the correct US release order.
Before The Debut, Eisenberg directed, wrote, produced, and starred in A Real Pain. He played David Kaplan, who goes on a Jewish heritage tour through Poland with his free-spirited and manic-depressive cousin, Benji Kaplan (Kieran Culkin). Eisenberg received a nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category and Culkin won Best Supporting Actor. The movie also earned a "Certified Fresh" 96% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82% score from audiences.
Following A Real Pain and The Debut, the latter of which has a 92% Tomatometer score, the A24 television series from Jesse Eisenberg has the opportunity to build on the positive reception that his films have had, further solidifying his reputation as a director, writer, and producer alongside his many roles as an actor.
