A24 Landing TIFF Title ‘Friendship’ For Mid-7 Figures

EXCLUSIVE: The Toronto Film Festival film deals are beginning to trickle in after a slow start. Deadline hears A24 is acquiring U.S. distribution on Friendship, the Andrew DeYoung-scripted and directed comedy that stars Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. Sources place the deal in the 7-figures.

When new neighbor Brian threatens his quiet life, Craig Waterman struggles to protect his family’s security.

Pic also stars Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey, Jon Glaser, Eric Rahill, Conner O’Malley, Carmen Christopher, Craig Frank, Omar Torres, Jacob Ming-Trent, Daniel London, Whitmer Thomas and Raphael Sbarge. 

The film was produced by Nick Weidenfeld, Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and John Holland. Paul Rudd, Tracy Rosenblum, Andrew DeYoung, and Alexis Garcia is exec producer.

The pic is repped by WME Independent and UTA for domestic along with Fifth Season, which was behind the film,. Friendship played in the Midnight Madness program.

This comes on the heels of A24’s acquisition of the Venice pic The Brutalist.
