Not festing on their laurels.
Valve has announced that Steam will feature 22 themed fests in 2026, coming in at around a different video game festival promotion every 2.4 weeks.
This announcement came via a personable video posted on Steam''s official Twitter account, in which examples including detective-fest, board game fest, tower defence fest, and deck-builder fest were mentioned among many others.
These 22 will come alongside the three Next fests in February, June, and October. There will also of course be the four seasonal sales events in 2026 as there were years prior. In total, you're looking at 29 total Steam promotions in the 344 days.
Steam fests have proven themselves to be powerful marketing tools in the right hands, with various AAA and indie developers using it to their advantage in promoting games along specific genres of thematic lines. The Next Fests, which put a spotlight on upcoming releases, has proven a fantastic way of discovering cool games you may otherwise have missed.
Steam itself is continuing its reign as the most popular PC games platform however, recently passing the 42m concurrent user milestone earlier this month. It has also been no stranger to some controversy, banning indie darling Horses from its store and amending its AI disclaimer so that AI-powered tools must no longer be declared.
