An official prequel to Solo Leveling is arriving later this year, and fans of the manhwa or the anime adaptation may want to check out the new content. The popular IP became even more well-known with its anime adaptation and game releases, portraying a rather easy-to-digest story with tons of fun combat sequences. A new Solo Leveling movie has been confirmed as a bridge between Seasons 2 and 3. There are reports that Season 3 will arrive between 2027 and 2028, but the movie could be released before that.
Before any of that even happens, however, we’re getting more Solo Leveling content in the form of a prequel, so to speak. According to an official post on Crunchyroll, Solo Leveling: KARMA has been revealed, and it will be released in 2026, though its exact date has yet to be determined. The title will cover the 27-Year Monarch War story arc, which is not a precise prequel but a chronological reset that sets the series’ timeline back by 10 years.
As seen in the post, Solo Leveling: KARMA is a roguelite action RPG that will take place during the aforementioned arc and will have Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling face the Monarchs to ensure that Earth isn’t destroyed by their collaboration. Published by Netmarble, the game will somewhat look and feel like the Diablo series with its fast-paced action from an isometric point of view. However, of course, it will be coded with Solo Leveling DNA.
According to the official announcement, the new Solo Leveling game will mix in-game footage, as well as A-1 Pictures animation, as was exemplified by its announcement teaser. The upcoming RPG may contain what could be considered spoilers for some fans, as it covers some of the events that take place in the future storyline, though it does portray it from the perspective of an alternate universe. Though you’ll control Sung Jinwoo, you can expect several familiar faces.
Controlling the protagonist, you’ll face several of the strongest Monarchs from Solo Leveling, including Baran, Antares, and more, as well as their forces along the way. Of course, Sung Jinwoo won’t be alone, as he will be accompanied by his Shadow Army. As of today, Solo Leveling has officially ended in Japan – at least in terms of its publishing run. The franchise is still growing with its anime adaptation and roster of games.
Karma is an exciting addition to this list, as it will offer fans a new deep-dive into the series, while also making it fully up to them to control. If you’ve wanted to see what Sung Jinwoo feels like at his prime, then the new Solo Leveling game may be a great option to keep in mind.
