Ever since A Quiet Place: Part III was first given a proper release date back in August, there has been nary a sound made about the return of the horror franchise, save for a slight delay to July 30, 2027. The threequel began early development back in 2022, but it's been a long road to the big screen since then, with Michael Sarnoski's spin-off prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, coming out first in 2024. It remains unknown exactly what the film is about, who's in it, or when it will head into production this year, though it is known that John Krasinski is back in the saddle as director, writer, and executive producer. Surprisingly, fans aren't the only ones in the dark.
Krasinki's co-star in the original film, Millicent Simmonds, spoke with Collider's Perri Nemiroff at SXSW for a larger interview on her new thriller, Pretty Lethal, where she was asked about the status of Part III and her role in the future of A Quiet Place. When viewers last saw her and the rest of the Abbott family in A Quiet Place: Part II, things were looking up, with Reagan using her cochlear implant to broadcast a high-frequency radio signal capable of weakening the aliens and, hopefully, helping other survivors fight back. The future looked hopeful for once, but the existence of Part III suggests that there's still a fight for survival to be had, whether it involves the Abbotts or not.
While Simmonds knows that the post-apocalyptic horror sequel is moving along, she has no idea so far about what Part III will entail. "Yes, Part III is happening," she said. "I can confirm. But they haven't told me anything. I've been begging my team for more information, but I have received nothing." Just because she doesn't know anything audiences will want to hear doesn't mean she's without certain hopes for the film. The return of the Abbotts, including Reagan, Evelyn (Emily Blunt), and Marcus (Noah Jupe), is what the actress most wants to see, but she also just wishes for a happy ending for the family after all the tragedy they've been through.
So, there's no news to share, but what I'm hoping for Part III is to see the Abbott family again, see where they go after Part II. And again, I don't know if they're going to be focusing on new characters, perhaps? I just don't know! But I hope they're happy. I hope it's a happy ending for everybody. I want everybody to be safe and unharmed. So, pray for me. Please pray for me."

What Is 'Pretty Lethal' About?
While she awaits more information about her potential return as Reagan, Simmonds is focused on the upcoming release of Pretty Lethal. The film premiered at SXSW just days before coming home on Prime Video on March 25 with a busload of killer ballerinas in tow. Simmonds is one of five dancers who become stranded when their bus breaks down en route to a big competition and are forced to settle into an eerie roadside inn. When a gang of armed men attacks them, they're forced to turn the grace and discipline they've spent years practicing into deadly weapons to keep them at bay. Iris Apatow, Lana Condor, Maddie Ziegler, Avantika, Uma Thurman, Michael Culkin, and Lydia Leonard all star in the wild action thriller from Vicky Jewson and writer Maria Freund.
A Quiet Place: Part III is currently set to hit theaters on July 30, 2027. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on the third film in Krasinski's franchise and more coverage from throughout SXSW.
