Since the 2018 movie's premiere, A Quiet Place has remained one of the most successful and unique modern horror franchises. The film series, set in a post-apocalyptic, not-so-distant future, utilizes silence in a way that few other titles in the genre ever have, making it necessary for survival in a world overtaken by vicious sightless aliens. Because of that, the series weaponizes sound and features sparse, hushed dialogue, relying on quiet but overwhelming suspense to keep audiences intrigued.

Such a simple yet effective formula has led to immense success for the franchise, which has a third mainline A Quiet Place film scheduled for release in 2027 after a highly successful theatrical run with the 2024 spin-off, A Quiet Place: Day One. The series also branched out to comics earlier this year in A Quiet Place: Storm Warning.

Now, that expansion into comics will continue in an all-new series titled, A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, scheduled for release in November 2026. The series will also utilize silence in a way the franchise never has before.

A Quiet Place's Upcoming Entry Will Use Silence in a New Way

The Upcoming Comic Series Will Focus On a Complicated Relationship Between Silent Characters

 Rising Tides #1.

The upcoming five-issue A Quiet Place: Rising Tides, written by Declan Shalvey and drawn by Luke Sparrow, will follow Grace, a young woman who travels to the Florida Keys in order to visit her estranged father on his run-down houseboat. Unfortunately for her, the invasion occurs while she's on her journey, and she becomes trapped on the seas with her ailing father. Though the two are safe on the water, they'll have to touch down on land eventually, as her father's oxygen tank is rapidly running out.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer Declan Shalvey remarked that his style is a bit more grounded than what's typically found in American superhero comics, and pointed out that though A Quiet Place is about horrifying monsters, the movies tell strongly character-driven stories. It's the dynamic between Grace and her estranged father that Shalvey believes makes this entry into the franchise unique.

The series will use silence in a different way. Rather than making it dangerous and attractive to monsters, A Quiet Place: Rising Tides poses silence as a hurdle to overcome between two characters with a lot of baggage that needs to be talked through. In his own words, Shalvey said:

"As much as we were talking about action, a lot of it isn't action. The whole point is the characters don't want action. They want everything to be quiet. And the tough thing about this book is that it's about two characters who really need to talk to each other but can't."

Since the first film's premiere in 2018, the A Quiet Place franchise has grossed over $900 million across its three theatrical movies, making it one of the most successful horror franchises in history, and another mainline film is on its way. Outside theaters, a video game spin-off was released in 2024, and has since been followed up by a comic series earlier this year, and another comic series is set to arrive this fall. As long as the franchise remains as successful as it's been, fans can continue to expect further expansion across all types of media.

Backrooms Review: A Quietly Terrifying Piece Of Liminal Horror

What Backrooms lacks in its script, the movie makes up for in its meticulously terrifying approach to liminal horror that gets under the skin.

The next entry in the franchise is likely to be its most personal story yet, and aims to use the silence that's played such a large role in a new way. While the monsters will still pose the biggest threat to the characters, A Quiet Place: Rising Tides will place a greater focus on the silence between two characters who really need to talk things out.
