A look back at Halle Berry's famous exes and messy divorces as Oscar winner prepares to walk down the aisle for the FOURTH time with Van Hunt

Halle Berry is ready to say 'I do' once again.

The Catwoman, 59, confirmed that she is engaged to her Grammy-winning boyfriend Van Hunt, 55, while appearing on Thursday's episode The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The Oscar winner, who's been dating the musician for five years, showed off her unique engagement ring and shared that the pair 'don't have a date' yet.

It will be her fourth marriage, after a string of high-profile heartbreaks that have defined her romantic past and led to two bitter custody battles.

From a French movie star to a pro baseball player and a smoldering model, she's dated — and married — a roster of A-list heartthrobs.

As the mother-of-two prepares to walk down the aisle once more, Daily Mail takes a look at her famous exes.

Olivier Martinez (2013 - 2016)

Though their romance began like a fairytale, Berry's marriage to French hunk Olivier Martinez, 60, ultimately unraveled into a bitter custody battle over their son.

Berry met Martinez — dubbed the 'French Brad Pitt' — on set of Dark Tide, which was filming in South Africa in 2010.

The two wed in 2013 — the same year they welcomed their son Maceo Robert, 12 — and split in 2016.

The couple's divorce was finalized in 2023, with the outcome being joint custody and Halle paying child support.

But in 2024, Berry launched a legal battle against the actor as she claimed he was trying to take time off from their co-parenting therapy - requesting that he is compelled to participate.

In October, a judge sided with the actress, but noted that Martinez already complied with her request after she took him to court.

In documents obtained by US Weekly, Berry claimed she has spent over $200,000 in legal fees including 'voluntarily' contributing $80,000 towards Martinez's own legal expenses.

She also claimed the actor was supporting himself financially using her child support payments.

Berry was seeking sole custody of their child as she claimed Maceo is struggling in school and that he is, 'grade levels behind,' adding he'd been diagnosed with ADHD and mild dyslexia.

Berry added that Martinez was, 'either oblivious' to his difficulties or, 'carelessly disregards them,' which she said proves he's unfit for custody.

Martinez was also involved in an infamous fight with Berry's ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, with whom she shares daughter Nahla.

Martinez started dating Berry the same year she and Aubry announced their split.

The two made headlines in 2012 when they got into a fight with her ex Aubry during Thanksgiving. The model had dropped daughter Nahla off at Berry's Los Angeles home.

That is when Martinez and Aubrey got into a verbal which soon turned physical. Aubrey claimed the S.W.A.T. actor threatened to kill him. Both men had to go to the hospital for their injuries.

Aubrey was arrested and issued a restraining order as a result of the incident.

Gabriel Aubry (2005 - 2010)

Berry began dating model Gabriel Aubry, 49, in 2005, after her second divorce. They announced their split in 2010.

Though they never married, they share daughter Nahla Ariela, 17, together.

Berry has spent years embroiled in costly custody battles with the fathers of her two children.

The Monster's Ball actress was ordered to pay Aubry $16,000 per month plus a lump sum of $115,000 when the pair first locked horns in LA Superior Court in 2014 – a figure she would later blast as 'extortion'.

In 2021 she succeeded in slashing that figure to $8,000 a month, but the Oscar winner was made to pay him an additional 4.3 percent of any annual income she made over $1.95million.

In 2023, Berry – who at the time made a reported $10 million per movie – managed to cap the amount at $4.5million.

'She is, and will forever be, one of the most special and beautiful people that I have ever known, and I am certain that we will continue to have only love and respect for one another,' Aubry gushed after the breakup.

They insisted they would 'remain friends and committed parents', but soon became embroiled in legal proceedings instead after Berry tried to relocate to France with Nahla to live with her now ex-husband Martinez.

Eric Benét (2001 - 2005)

Berry married singer Eric Benét, 59, in 2001 after dating for two years, but they called it quits in 2003 and their divorce was finalized in 2005.

Last year Berry seemingly slammed her ex when she said she did not believe a former husband's claims of sex addiction.

Although the actress did not name the musician specifically, it was widely reported back in 2002 that Benét went to rehab to treat sex addiction.

On an episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, she referred to her second husband when she said she doesn't 'f***ing believe' his self-proclaimed sex addiction.

'I had one husband who said he was a sex addict,' she said about an unnamed ex. 'But I don't f***ing believe that s***.'

Back then, she revealed that they had been having issues in their marriage 'for some time now' when she released a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

'Eric and I have had marital problems for some time now and have tried to work things out together,' she told the outlet.

'However, at this point, I feel we need time apart to reevaluate our union. We ask that you respect our privacy as we are going through this emotional time.'

At the time, it was widely speculated that Benét had been unfaithful to Berry more than once because of his alleged sex addiction.

Following their split, he shut down the claims that he was a sex addict himself in an interview with ABC News.

'I am not a sex addict,' he told the outlet in July 2004. 'I am a person who ... through a series of emotional events, troubles, challenges, made some really, really stupid, painful mistakes.'

David Justice (1993 - 1997)

Berry's first husband was former MLB player David Justice.

The two began dating in 1992 after she first saw him competing during an MTV celebrity baseball game.

Berry later gave the sports player, 59, her phone number through a reporter that they both knew.

The former couple tied the knot on New Year's Day in 1993 amid their whirlwind romance, but separated in 1996. The following year, their divorce was finalized.

Last year, Justice partly blamed their split on his belief that Berry didn't seem 'motherly'; They are seen in 1996

Halle later admitted to Parade in 2007 that she had suffered from depression following the split which led her to a suicide attempt.

'My sense of worth was so low,' the actress told the outlet, per Today. 'I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me.

'Because someone didn't love me didn't mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again.'

Last year, Justice got candid about their failed marriage, and revealed what could have salvaged the relationship.

Justice opened up about the topic on an episode of the All The Smoke podcast and said while they initially were in a 'honeymoon state' after saying 'I do,' he began to question if she was 'the woman I want to have kids with.'

The sports star explained that he only had 'one relationship before' marrying Berry. 'My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn't vast.'

Justice explained that he had been 'looking at my mom and I'm a Midwest guy. So, in my mind, I'm thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, [be] traditional, you know?'

'Then I'm thinking, "Okay, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?"'

David added, 'At that time, as a young guy - she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem like motherly, and then we start having issues.'

He recalled the Hollywood actress asking him to marry her after only five months of dating.

The baseball pro revealed that he had accepted the proposal 'because I couldn't say no' and admitted he wasn't sure 'if my heart was really into it.'

'But I didn't want to make her feel bad and say no, you know, or [if] I was just in the moment.'

Months into their marriage, the former couple's differences came to light and their careers resulted in them spending a lot time away from each other.

'We spent a lot of time apart because she was doing movies in this country, that country,' David said, before sharing what he felt could have possibly kept their marriage together.

'And we honestly probably could have made it if I knew about therapy. If we knew about therapy, we probably could have made it.'

Van Hunt (2020 - Present)

On Thursday, Berry confirmed that she will wed her beau Van Hunt.

'Well, there's some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no,' the star said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

'No, that's not the case. I did not say no. We just don't have a date.'

After a beat, Berry confirmed: 'But of course I said I would marry him! He did put a little ring on it.'

'Little' is funny considering the sheer size of the unique bauble featuring a center diamond surrounded by a square cut design on a large gold band.

The Crime 101 action star was referring to her interview with The Cut on Monday where she revealed the neo soul artist had proposed last June, and she 'hadn't said yes' but would make an exception for 'health reasons' due to the access that comes with a legal spouse.

Berry was first set up with Hunt through his brother during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, but they only texted and talked on the phone until their first date four months later.

'After my third divorce, people started to say, "What's wrong with her? She's crazy. She can't keep a man,"' the Re-spin co-founder recalled in the interview.

'I pretty much stopped doing interviews for a decade because I got tired of the same old story. It was always: "Poor Halle — Unlucky in Love Again."'

Berry continued: 'And I would always argue, "Who says I want to keep a man if he's not the right man?" I'm in the best relationship I have ever had.'

Berry's groom-to-be has an adult son called Drake from a previous relationship.
