While Disney's live-action remakes have been facing somewhat rough seas, the company is still riding the wave that is Lilo & Stitch. The return of the young Hawaiian girl and her chaotic blue alien pal was a wild success last year, breaking containment to earn over $1 billion at the global box office and earn the acclaim of both critics and audiences. The studio has been moving quickly to capitalize on that breakout hit, barely waiting two months to announce that a sequel was in development, complete with an original story that won't just revisit the direct-to-video sequels or the Disney Channel series. However, that doesn't mean characters from those titles, like a certain pink alien, won't make an appearance.

Now, Experiment 624 has officially crash-landed at D23. During Disney's annual entertainment showcase on Friday evening, a sneak peek was revealed for the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2, complete with a surprise announcement that Stitch's "boojiboo," the fan-favorite pink extraterrestrial Angel, would be joining him in his next blockbuster adventure. “Wait, there’s two of them?!," Lilo's actor Maia Kealoha exclaimed on-stage as two pink antennae shot up during the teaser. The love interest's presence confirms that Chris Sanders' sequel will at least be taking some pages from Lilo & Stitch: The Series for its new story.
