There are so many incredible games on PlayStation Plus that are worth playing. That is, of course, a blessing for those who subscribe to the service, but also a bit of a curse. After all, while we all appreciate a little choice, too much can lead to us choosing absolutely nothing and, consequently, playing nothing. Fortunately, while there truly are plenty of worthwhile experiences begging to be played, a handful in particular stand out above the rest and should absolutely be prioritized.

Among the many great games on PS Plus are some classic PlayStation 2 titles that have fortunately been preserved for a modern audience. One of these games is an incredibly iconic RPG that was beloved when it was released and remains a genuine gem today. PS Plus subscribers will definitely want to check this one out in particular, especially if they're into classic PlayStation games with plenty of charm and that beloved old-school vibe modern experiences are in desperate need of.

A Forgotten PS2 Cult Classic

Among the many excellent PS2 games on PS Plus stands Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain, an action-adventure title from Crystal Dynamics, the same folks behind the Tomb Raider reboot series. While the first game was only developed in association with Crystal Dynamics, the studio purchased the rights to the IP and went on to make four additional games. Blood Omen 2 is confusingly the fourth game in the series, and a sequel to the first game that is set in an alternative universe.

Sure, the timeline is a tad confusing, and newcomers to the series may not feel quite compelled to start with such a complex entry, but Blood Omen 2 was the first game in the series to move away from its more puzzle-focused roots and instead focus on combat and action. It makes for a vastly different experience, one more akin to its contemporaries at the time that absolutely stands out as a must-play PlayStation 2 game.

This 2000 Gem Is Still Worth Your Time

 Legacy of Kain.

While many Legacy of Kain fans may regard Blood Omen 2 as the weakest entry in the series, it absolutely has its merits both to said fans and newcomers alike. The setting is extremely unique; the combat, while certainly feeling like early 2000s PS2 combat, is a lot of fun, and Kain's struggles and adventures throughout the 14-hour main story are interesting. Sure, it was developed by a side team and didn't have the same talent that devoted their passion to the other Legacy of Kain games, but that doesn't mean Blood Omen 2 isn't a worthwhile PS2 experience.

It certainly isn't one of the worst-aged PS2 games on the market, and, considering it is completely free to play via PlayStation Plus, it is worth at least giving a little attention to. Additionally, the entire series is also available on modern platforms either through direct ports or remasters, so any confusing elements found in Blood Omen 2 can be ironed out by playing them. While the series is three decades old now, it is still worth experiencing its phenomenal writing, action, and platforming, especially for free on PS Plus.
