90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Tigerlily Taylor is upset with Vanja Grbic commenting that she has Stockholm Syndrome in her marriage with Adnan Abdelfattah. Tigerlily is a 41-year-old woman married to the 23-year-old Adnan. Adnan from Jordan is a Muslim man who wished to marry Tigerlily on the first day they met in person so they could spend time together in his country while respecting his culture and traditions. Tigerlily readily agreed to do so and once she married Adnan, she also started following the rules he said she was expected to follow.
Tigerlily did protest a little at first but slowly started accepting what Adnan wanted from her as his wife. Tigerlily has not revealed if she has converted to Islam herself, but her clothes in her recent photos on Instagram suggest she has. However, Tigerlily could be wearing an abaya as a style statement and not because Adnan forced her to. Similarly, Tigerlily seemingly likes being controlled by Adnan even though they have a sizable age difference. Tigerlily is sane enough to understand what her relationship looks like on camera since Adnan is the immature one.
Why 90 Day Fiancé Cast Members Thought Tigerlily Has Stockholm Syndrome
Vanja Grbic first observed that Tigerlily (via omfgrealitytv) had been in a controlling marriage previously and had still married Adnan on day 1 because he’d asked her to. While Vanja tried to speak to Tigerlily, Adnan had walked in, interrupting them or perhaps to make sure Tigerlily didn’t badmouth him to Vanja. He commented that Tigerlily would never wear revealing clothes like Vanja because she was his princess and dressed only for him. She could wear the clothes, but at home for Adnan. Adnan refused to stay and talk to Vanja because he’d have to cover his eyes to talk to her.
“It’s Stockholm Syndrome.”
Vanja brought up how Adnan made her feel like he didn’t want to talk to her because she didn’t have a penis. Tigerlily claimed that Adnan doesn’t talk to girls by himself when she isn’t around. The same rule also applied to Tigerlily. Out of respect for their marriage, she would excuse herself from the conversation if she and Adnan were chatting with Joey Coan and Adnan had to leave to go to the bathroom. Vanja commented that this was a case of “Stockholm Syndrome.”
Tigerlily Laughs "I Don't Have Stockholm Syndrome"
Tigerlily Explained Why She Was Quiet At The Tell All
Tigerlily commented on Vanja’s observation after the cast was done filming and was headed home. She decided to speak up to the cameras after pretty much staying quiet for the four part Tell All. “I’m not really sure why everyone thinks that I can’t speak my mind if Adnan is with me. I don’t have Stockholm Syndrome like some people may think,” Tigerlily commented. She explained that Adnan is an extrovert in the relationship while she is the quiet and reserved one.
Tigerlily’s Response To Vanja’s Accusation Is Apt
However, Tigerlily Has Changed Herself Completely For Adnan After The Tell All
Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response that occurs when a victim of abuse or captivity develops an emotional bond with their abuser or captor. According to ClevelandClinic, the condition applies to situations including child abuse, coach-athlete abuse, relationship abuse, and sex trafficking. Tigerlily is not being abused or held captive by Adnan. The term shouldn’t have been used so loosely by Vanja. Still, Tigerlily, who has changed herself for Adnan after the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Tell All, might give critics more reasons to believe she’s being controlled.
90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
