A 60s sci-fi icon who rose to fame as a child celebrated his 72nd birthday over the weekend with an invigorating stroll.

As a youngster, his resume was already chock full of Hollywood classics including The Munsters, Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, Bewitched, and I Dream of Jeannie.

But that really was just the beginning - he portrayed a boy genius in the 60s series Lost in Space, a title he would later revisit when it was rebooted in 2018.

The world of sci-fi is a clear theme in his career - he nabbed a role in the show Babylon 5 and now produces the History Channel series Ancient Aliens.

As he celebrates his 72nd birthday, he shows no signs of slowing down - this actor-turned-musician will be releasing a new album.

Can you guess who this star is?

A 60s sci-fi icon who starred in the original Lost In Space celebrated his 72nd birthday over the weekend with a hike in Los Angeles

If you guessed Bill Mumy, you were correct!

On Sunday, the actor started off his 72nd year with a rejuvenating hike with his wife Eileen in Los Angeles.

Wearing a cowboy hat, jean jacket, and sweatpants, Mumy was the picture of contentment enjoying the warm winter day with his spouse by his side.

The couple were pictured trekking alongside a lush terrain, their trainers coming in handy as they made their way up an incline.

Mumy also shared a special message with followers on his birthday, thanking them for all their support and musing on the paradox of being known as a child star who is now in their golden years.

'I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all the support over the years. Today is my birthday and I'm grateful to still be here,' he said. 'A lot of people aren't and every day's a good day, a real good day. I'm a little concerned about the state of reality, but let's just keep thinking real good thoughts.

'Follow the golden rule, do onto others as you would have others do onto you, and hopefully things will get straightened out pretty soon.

'Anyway I wanted to say thanks for the support for over all these decades, the old stuff, and the new stuff. Sometimes people kind of always think of me as being a kid and I was real happy with the catalogue of work I did when I was a kid, so that's ok!

If you guessed Babylon 5 star Bill Mumy, you were correct!

This actor kicked off his 72nd year with a healthy hike alongside his wife Eileen

'But it's weird turning 72 when most people think of you as... 11 or something. But it's good. I've got a new album coming out soon. We're working on the next season of Ancient Aliens for the History Channel, which is a television series I'm a co-producer on, and most of all I'm grateful for my family, my wife, my children, my grandchildren, Josie B. [his dog], and the fact that I'm feeling pretty good, and continuing to be creative and to be here.'

Mumy was born in sunny San Gabriel, California, and stepped in front of the cameras at just seven years old.

By his teens, he was starring in the 1971 cult favorite Bless the Beasts and Children and strumming a guitar in the TV weeper Sunshine — a role he reprised for a Christmas special and spin-off series.

In the ’70s, he popped up everywhere from The Rockford Files to Matlock, charming viewers whether he was playing a street artist or a brainy nephew.

As a child, Mumy's acting resume boasted a slew of Hollywood classic shows

Sci-fi fans got another dose of Mumy magic when he co-created Nickelodeon’s Space Cases and slipped into prosthetics as Lennier on Babylon 5.

He even beamed into the Star Trek universe in 1998, this time as a human — something he admitted was a relief after years of alien makeup.

In later years, he appeared in Crossing Jordan, starred in Syfy’s A.I. Assault, and made a cheeky cameo as Dr. Z. Smith in Netflix’s Lost in Space.

But acting is only half his story — Mumy has lived and breathed music for decades, releasing solo albums and collaborating with America, Shaun Cassidy, and more.

The sci-fi series aired from 1965 to 66 and would later undergo a reboot

The sci-fi genre was clearly one Mumy gravitated towards, nabbing a role on Babylon 5 as an adult

He made waves in the late ’70s as half of the quirky duo Barnes & Barnes, whose bizarre earworm Fish Heads became a cult hit.

These days, he’s rocking out with Action Skulls alongside Vicki Peterson of The Bangles and John Cowsill of Beach Boys fame.

Since 2016, he has been working as a consulting producer on Ancient Aliens.

Still happily married to Eileen Joy Davis since 1986, Mumy calls Laurel Canyon home, where he lives with their two kids, Seth and Liliana.

From boy wonder to sci-fi legend to rocker, Mumy’s career has been anything but lost in space.
