Resident Alien
Now is a great time to start watching or re-watching the first three seasons of the beloved sci-fi series Resident Alien before season 4 arrives on Netflix this Saturday, June 6. Starring Alan Tudyk in one of his career-defining roles, Resident Alien follows Tudyk's protagonist Harry, who is an alien that crash-lands onto Earth and assumes a human identity in a small Colorado town.
Tasked with a secret mission on Earth, Harry faces a moral dilemma as he grows accustomed to living amongst humans. Best described as a dark comedy with sci-fi and mystery elements, Resident Alien has a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 97% and is perfect to watch ahead of season 4's arrival this weekend.
Hawaii Five-O
As of June 1, Netflix just added the first five seasons of the modern reboot of Hawaii Five-O that debuted on CBS in 2010. Although there are a total of ten seasons and 140 episodes of Hawaii Five-O, only the first five seasons of the show are streaming now on Netflix, which still amounts to a whopping 121 episodes. This gives Netflix viewers new access to one of the most celebrated police procedurals of the 2010s.
Hawaii Five-O follows an elite task force to fight crime and solve mysteries on the Hawaiian Islands. The series is led by a strong ensemble cast that includes Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Jorge Garcia, and more. If you love going deep inside classic cop dramas with multiple seasons and dozens of episodes, such as NCIS and Criminal Minds, then Hawaii Five-O is perfect for you on Netflix this week.
The Witness
One of the most anticipated new original series on Netflix this week is The Witness, a 3-part crime thriller that is based on real events. The Witness follows the 1992 murder of Rachel Nickell, who was murdered on Wimbledon Common, and her three-year-old son, Alex, who was the only living witness. The story examines the aftermath of the murder through the eyes of Alex and his father, André, based on the latter's memoir Letting Go.
Similar to other critically acclaimed Netflix series like Adolescence, The Witness is short enough for a one-night binge but deals with emotionally heavy and mature themes. Because Alex, the only witness to his mother's death, was just a toddler at the time of the incident, police struggled to find the real murderer as André experiences earth-shattering grief. This is one new Netflix show you won't want to miss this Thursday, June 4.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict
Perhaps the most anticipated new Netflix show releasing this week is Michael Jackson: The Verdict, a new 3-part docuseries about pop singer and global superstar Michael Jackson. Unlike the recent blockbuster movie that highlighted Jackson's most celebrated career moments and musical performances, Michael Jackson: The Verdict places a magnifying glass on Jackson's notorious legal battle and trial that sparked a media frenzy.
Michael Jackson: The Verdict features never-before-seen interviews with several people, including jurors, who were directly involved in the legal process as Jackson was put on trial for felony charges of child molestation in 2005. Because cameras were not allowed in the courtroom, this new Netflix docuseries aims to offer a more comprehensive overview of the proceedings with first-person perspectives. Michael Jackson: The Verdict should be one of, if not the, most-watched new shows on Netflix this week.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves
Although it premiered back in 2023 on Paramount+, Lawmen: Bass Reeves was just added to Netflix, making it perfect for fans of Westerns, historical dramas, and Taylor Sheridan series. Sheridan executive-produced the series along with star David Oyelowo, who portrays one of the first black US Marshals in American history, Bass Reeves.

Banks, and Forrest Goodluck, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is one of the very best newly added shows you can watch this week on Netflix.
