Five of the greatest new shows to binge-watch on Paramount+ this week, August 31–September 4, 2026, include acclaimed spy thrillers and dark crime dramas. Outside the expansive Sheridanverse, which consists of some of the streamer's most popular original series like Landman and Tulsa King, there are still plenty of outstanding new shows to stream this week on Paramount+ that are well worth your time.
Between an overlooked spy thriller starring Michael Fassbender, a Yellowstone sequel that continues to dominate viewership charts, a critically acclaimed crime drama set in New York City, a Tom Hardy-led gangster epic featuring one of his best-ever performances, and the #1 most-watched series worldwide right now, these five Paramount+ shows are all guaranteed to keep you hooked from start to finish.
The Agency
The Agency recently returned for its second season on Paramount+ following its strong season 1 debut in 2024. Michael Fassbender leads a stacked ensemble cast that also includes Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston, Jodie Turner-Smith, John Magaro, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, and more. Fassbender plays a highly skilled yet unruly CIA operative named Martian who is abruptly pulled from a long-term mission to help the CIA retrieve a missing agent. Martian develops feelings for a woman while undercover, which places his heart and his mind against each other. If you love complex political dramas and high-stakes espionage thrillers, don't miss The Agency.
Dutton Ranch
Dutton Ranch remains one of the biggest new streaming hits on Paramount+ this week, currently ranking #6 on the streamer's worldwide viewership charts despite premiering back in May 2026. Dutton Ranch is widely considered one of the best Yellowstone spinoff series ever made and was certainly better received by critics and audiences than the other Yellowstone sequel released this year, Marshals. Dutton Ranch follows OG series favorites Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they rebuild their lives in Rio Paloma, Texas. As far as contemporary Western series go in 2026, it doesn't get much better than Dutton Ranch.
Dexter: Resurrection
Dexter: Resurrection became a global phenomenon on Paramount+ when it launched back in July 2025, stunning both critics and longtime Dexter fans by earning a near-perfect 95% Rotten Tomatoes score. The wait for Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is almost over, as it is set to arrive sometime in October 2026. Featuring Michael C. Hall as the iconic vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan, Dexter: Resurrection also put together one of the best ensemble casts out of any 2025 series, which included Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, and more. With Brian Cox and David Stevens expected to play two new killers in season 2, the hype for more Dexter: Resurrection episodes officially starts now.
MobLand
Speaking of celebrated Paramount+ series returning for their second season soon, the MobLand season 2 premiere will finally drop on September 18, 2026. Led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, MobLand is one of the best gangster series in recent memory, following Hardy's street-smart Harry Da Souza as he gets caught in the middle of two crime families battling for control of modern-day London. At just 10 episodes, each between 40 and 59 minutes long, MobLand is the ideal length to start early in the week and finish by the weekend, especially for fans of dark crime dramas and gangster epics.
Lioness
Taylor Sheridan's spy thriller Lioness has claimed the #1 worldwide spot on Paramount+ since its third season premiered in early August. Part political drama and part action-packed spy thriller, Lioness is one of the few series that Sheridan has retained full creative control over, and its third season has proven it's also one of his best.
Zoe Saldaña is magnetic as CIA agent Joe McNamara, who leads an elite covert operation codenamed Lioness in which female soldiers go undercover to help target and eliminate national security threats. With appearances by Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, and more, Lioness is simply the best show to watch on Paramount + right now, with new episodes dropping every Sunday through September 20.
