5 Marvel Boy (Protector) Was Removed After Avengers vs. X-Men

When Noh-Varr first arrived on Earth, he wasn't exactly Avengers material. The Kree super-soldier known as Marvel Boy debuted as an unpredictable outsider with technology centuries beyond anything Earth's heroes had seen. Over time, however, Steve Rogers saw enough potential to recruit him into the Avengers, where he later adopted the codename Protector and became one of the team's heavy hitters.

His tenure seemed promising at first. Protector possessed incredible strength, advanced alien weaponry, flight, and molecular manipulation abilities that made him invaluable against cosmic threats. More importantly, he gradually developed genuine friendships with several Avengers, proving he was more than just an arrogant warrior from another universe. Even so, his loyalty was never entirely to Earth, and that conflict eventually reached a breaking point.

The turning point came during 2012's Avengers vs. X-Men crossover. As the Phoenix Force approached Earth, the Avengers and X-Men clashed over how to handle Hope Summers. Protector ultimately sided against the Avengers after developing feelings for Wanda Maximoff and becoming disillusioned with the conflict's escalating violence. Believing that Steve Rogers represented a growing danger under extraordinary circumstances, Black Panther launched into a shockingly brutal fight that shocked readers accustomed to seeing the two heroes as trusted allies. The battle showed just how ruthless T'Challa could become when he believed the stakes justified extreme action.

Black Panther has often approached problems differently than other Avengers. 1 The Entire West Coast Avengers Were Dismissed at Once

Individual Avengers being fired is unusual enough, but an entire Avengers team losing its official status is almost unheard of. That is exactly what happened to the West Coast Avengers during one of the biggest organizational shakeups in Marvel history.
