The Expanse was a masterclass in combining thrilling sci-fi with political drama and mystery, making it easy to understand why the series became such a fan favorite. And while it was absolutely tragic when Syfy canceled the series, it was fortunately picked up by Amazon, giving fans a solid six-season run totaling 62 episodes. The Expanse Returns in December With 3 Major Stories, Including Its Season 6 Continuation

Fans of the TV series will be pleased to learn that BOOM! Studios' The Expanse comics are indeed part of the canon, continuing and expanding the story that fans have come to know and love. The Expanse: Origins #1–4, BOOM! Studios' earliest venture into The Expanse universe was released in 2017–2018 and explored the backstories of major characters, including James Holden, Naomi Nagata, Amos Burton, and Alex Kamal.

Likewise, BOOM! Studios' The Expanse #1–4, released in 2020–2021 while the TV series was still airing, canonically taking place between Seasons 4 and 5. This miniseries followed Bobbie Draper and Chrisjen Avasarala, filling in some of what happens during that period of the show.

And, of course, perhaps BOOM! Studios' most notable contribution to The Expanse universe is The Expanse: Dragon Tooth, a three-part graphic novel series written by Andy Diggle and drawn by Rubine and Francesco Pisa, with the oversight and approval of the franchise creator James S.A. Corey (Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham), and Alcon Entertainment. Many will consider this BOOM! Studios' most notable contribution given that it takes place within the TV show's continuity, during the "missing years" after Season 6 but before the events of the final three Expanse novels.
