As manga sales continue to surge outside Japan, collector-focused hardcovers and prestige reprints are helping long-running series find second lives. Publishers are leaning into premium formats more than ever, with the intention of keeping legacy titles in steady circulation for new readers. This strategy has proven to be especially effective for darker sagas, one of which has just reached a major milestone in the English-language market.

Few dark fantasy series have experienced a resurgence quite like this dark fantasy epic published in English by Dark Horse Comics. The manga’s sustained momentum in recent years has now translated into a significant sales achievement, as announced by the publisher on social media. Not just that, but Dark Horse Comics also took the opportunity to tease the next installment in the saga to signal that the fan-favorite series still has a long way to go.

The manga in question is the late Kentaro Miura’s Berserk, which has now sold over 10 million English copies. Dark Horse Comics marked the occasion by announcing that Berserk volume 43 will officially release on October 27. The publisher also noted that while Berserk Volumes 42 and 43 will not receive standalone Deluxe editions, the eventual release of Volume 44 will allow for a Deluxe Volume 15. However, Dark Horse Comics did not share a release window for the manga’s next hardcover collection.

‘Berserk’ Volume 43 Is Now Available for Pre-Order

The anticipation for Berserk’s next chapter is at an all-time high following the manga’s latest milestone. The upcoming English-language volume, which is now available for pre-order on Dark Horse Comics’ website, will continue Miura’s vision under the supervision of the author’s close friend, Kouji Mori. Duane Johnson serves as the translator. The official synopsis teases rising political tensions within the Kushan Empire as it prepares for war against Griffith and Falconia. Amidst all this, Guts finds himself imprisoned and spiritually lost following the devastation of Elf Island. At the same time, some of his companions begin to wonder if he should be blamed for their current fate.

Berserk Volume 43 will span 232 black-and-white pages in trade paperback format and retail for $14.99. Not just that, the release also includes extra content featuring a double-sided full-color foldout, an afterword by Mori, and a bonus comic strip honoring Miura. The upcoming installment is intended for a mature audience and marks another step forward for the long-running dark fantasy series.

Berserk Volume 43 is available for preorder through Dark Horse Comics’ official website before its October 27 release.
