Prime Video is the streaming service for new arrivals this weekend, and subscribers will have a lot of fun with three completely different types of movies. On last weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, I explored titles like Your Fault: London, The Debt, and End of Watch. Only one of them is currently trending on the streaming service in the United States.
At the time of writing, one of Prime Video's latest original movies, Your Fault: London, stands tall as the 4th most-watched movie on the streamer nationwide. Last time on Prime Video, there were two action-packed movies, with one of them being a spy thriller and the other a police film. Alongside them was a spicy romance that continued a franchise.
For the final weekend of June, I decided not to match any genres, instead offering three unique movies for subscribers. One of them is a murder mystery with a major twist that makes it unlike pretty much everything that has come from the genre. Another film is one of the biggest superhero movies in recent years. The third is a romance drama.
What all three of these movies have in common is how those looking at Prime Video's movie roster to watch major stars will be able to find many in these entries. A few of the actors involved in these projects include names like Hugh Jackman, David Corenswet, Jacob Elordi, Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart, and more.
3 Priscilla (2023)
The first movie on the list is Priscilla, which was directed by Sofia Coppola (Marie Antoinette). The drama recently arrived on Prime Video on Tuesday, June 23. The film, as its title might suggest, tells the thrilling story behind the romance involving Priscilla Beaulieu and none other than Elvis Presley. The story brings the nuances of that key relationship to life.
It is an adaptation of 1985's Elvis and Me book by Priscilla Presley. While everyone saw a version of the relationship through the media, this is the intimate take on what really happened. Priscilla boasts a high 84% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. It is led by two rising stars, Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) as Elvis and Cailee Spaeny (Beef) as Priscilla. Both are excellent.
2 The Sheep Detectives (2026)
The Sheep Detectives was released on Prime Video in the United States on Wednesday, June 24. The new murder mystery is a unique release. The film focuses on George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a shepherd who turns up dead with no clear culprit. After being read murder mysteries every night by their shepherd, Hardy's sheep band together to find out who could have killed him and why.
The Sheep Detectives is the most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States.
The Sheep Detectives is a funny, unique, and incredibly emotional new movie. It also features a star-studded roster of actors as the many sheep. The murder mystery features actors like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Thompson, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and many more. The Sheep Detectives has been met with overwhelming praise, including a 95% critics' score and a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
1 Superman (2025)
At the end of the list is James Gunn's Superman, which is an incredibly timely release. After all, Milly Alcock's Supergirl movie is now playing in theaters. The actress debuted as Kara in Superman, with the DCU's first movie teasing what to expect from the character in the spinoff. Additionally, David Corenswet's Superman is also set to return in Supergirl, so fans might want to meet him beforehand.
Superman is the 2nd most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States.
Superman focused on the Man of Steel taking on a series of threats set loose by Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor as the iconic DC villain tries to destroy Superman. Corenswet's portrayal of the hero has been praised as one of the best Superman performances of all time. The movie also debuts several new DC heroes, making it an unmissable event. Superman is the perfect double feature with the theatrical Supergirl this weekend on Prime Video.
