A new month means new movies have just been added to Netflix, and there's something on the streaming service for every kind of film fan. Now that streaming completely dominates the way audiences consume media, Netflix has become a monolith of the modern entertainment landscape. The brand blossomed from a DVD rental service to the leading name in streaming.

3 Fall (2022)

Want the thrills and chills of a horror film without the monsters and gore? Then Fall is the perfect pick to start off March. The plot concerns two thrill-seekers who scale an abandoned radio tower, only to find themselves stranded at the top. The simple-but-effective gem plays on the common fear of heights.

Using a cast of unknowns, there is an air of realism that heightens the tension. Despite being quite simple, Fall isn't a gimmick movie, and actually has a well-written screenplay that accentuates its core concept. Putting all that aside, it's the kind of edge-of-your-seat movies that's becoming exceedingly rare. It manages to be a nail-biter even upon repeat viewings.

2 Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

A girl looks through binoculars in Moonrise Kingdom

Though Wes Anderson's filmography might be an acquired taste, Moonrise Kingdom is undoubtedly one of his most beloved movies. On a quirky island in the 1960s, two rebellious youngsters run away together on the eve of a huge storm. Every Anderson trope is on display, and it's just so darn charming that it's hard to deny.

Just like the movie's setting, Moonrise Kingdom hearkens back to a simpler and more optimistic time in movie history. It has plenty of laughs and cutesy romance, and is an unorthodox coming-of-age story. It's a great movie to revisit now that it's streaming on Netflix, because of its nostalgic quality.

1 The Thursday Murder Club (2025)

The cast of The Thursday Murder Club look on.

The Knives Out franchise spawned its own subgenre, with films like The Thursday Murder Club aping its style. A band of retirees like to solve cold cases for fun, but must put their detective skills to the test when a real case falls in their laps. Richard Osman's novel sets the stage for a wildly underrated movie from 2025.

Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club book series is now up to five installments.

With a cast including Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Ben Kingsley, The Thursday Murder Club is one of Netflix's most star-studded originals. The movie's droll wit offsets its dark tone, and the mystery at the heart of the story is pretty compelling too. Though it is made in the Knives Out mold, the Netflix original whodunnit stands on its own.
