In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. This past weekend, the first major box office triumph of 2026 landed in U.S. theaters. Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, director Emerald Fennell's third feature film, Wuthering Heights, brought high-drama passion and romance to Valentine's weekend and lured many millions to their local theaters. Having made over $75 million worldwide in its opening gambit, the movie is set to be the first financial smash of 2026, even if it has proven divisive among critics and audiences. Following on from Wuthering Heights, where should your attention be drawn this week? To help you decide, here's a helpful list of three movies you should watch this week on Netflix.

3 'Moulin Rouge' (2001)

Rotten Tomatoes: 75% | IMDb: 7.5/10

To add an all-singing, all-dancing sparkle to your working week, don't miss out on director Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge. The movie follows Ewan McGregor's penniless poet, Christian, who falls in love and begins a passionate affair with the most beautiful showgirl in 1800s Paris at the famous Moulin Rouge.

One of the very best movie musicals of the noughties, the visually mind-blowing effort from Luhrmann leaves nothing to be desired. Starring Nicole Kidman in one of her best-ever performances, Moulin Rouge took home a pair of Academy Awards in 2002, with Kidman sadly missing out on a Best Actress trophy.

2 'After Hours' (1985)

Rotten Tomatoes: 90% | IMDb: 7.6/10

When searching for a great movie to watch, you can never go wrong with a Martin Scorsese picture. One of his more underrated efforts, After Hours, follows the worst night in the life of word processor Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne). After encountering Marcy (Rosanna Arquette) in a Manhattan café, he agrees to meet her later that day, only for everything that seemingly could go wrong to do so in spectacular fashion.

Perhaps the funniest film in Scorsese's filmography, this indie dark comedy pulls no punches as it tells the terrible tale of Paul Hackett's luck. Dunne is unmissable in this unique lead role as he bounces with frantic energy through painful ordeal after painful ordeal, with the actor supported by a superb ensemble that boasts the late, great Catherine O'Hara.

1 'Homefront' (2013)

Rotten Tomatoes: 42% | IMDb: 6.5/10

For an ass-kicking ode to action classics this week, look no further than genre veteran Jason Statham's Homefront. This 2013 thriller stars Statham as former DEA agent Phil Broker, whose move to a quaint backwater town turns troublesome when he is greeted by a community ravaged by drugs and violence. Soon, Phil's daughter is put in harm's way, leaving him with no choice but to fight back.

Based on a novel by Chuck Logan, Homefront features not just one action legend in Statham, but also the writing talents of Sylvester Stallone. Also starring the likes of James Franco, Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo, and more, the movie has recently climbed the U.S. streaming charts, even rivaling the likes of 2025's How to Train Your Dragon for audience attention. With that in mind, you won't want to miss out on a pulse-racing actioner that everyone else is watching this week.
