Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.
For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.
He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.
His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Jason Statham usually gets at least a little help from his own name. Even when a movie underperforms in theaters, there’s often enough goodwill to carry it onto digital platforms for a while. Shelter looked like it might do exactly that. It got an early bump after hitting premium streaming and VOD, but that momentum doesn’t seem to be holding.
Earlier this month, the film was still ranking well on digital charts, including Amazon’s store listings. However, a recent check shows it had already fallen out of the main streaming movie top 10, which suggests viewers haven’t really latched onto it in the way they do with Statham’s better-known thrillers. The film stars Statham as a recluse on a remote Scottish island who rescues a girl from the sea and gets pulled into escalating danger. That setup sounds promising on paper, but the streaming fade suggests Shelter may not have the staying power some hoped for. Sometimes even Statham can’t force a movie to stick.

Is 'Shelter' Worth Watching?
Collider’s review stated that Shelter is a very simple Statham movie, but that is mostly a good thing. It knows its audience and gives them what they came for: hard punches, gunfights, a shady government plot, and Statham playing a quiet tough guy with a dangerous past. It is not trying to reinvent the action genre. It is just trying to be a solid time at the movies. The best part is the action. The film opens with a strong storm rescue sequence, and the later fights and shootouts give Statham plenty of chances to do what he does best. Bill Nighy is also clearly having fun as the villain, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach is a nice surprise, giving the movie more heart than expected.
"It is honestly surprising that Ric Roman Waugh and Statham had never worked together until now, as Shelter proves that they are a very good match. Shelter will give Statham devotees exactly what they're looking for. It isn't particularly memorable, nor will it launch a franchise, but did it ever need to? No, it didn't. It's another perfect excuse to shove popcorn in your face as you cheer watching Statham beat some people up. What's wrong with that?"
Shelter is streaming now.
