Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.
Just over a decade after starring in the gritty Western The Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy are back in the trailer for the film's re-release.
DiCaprio won an Oscar for his role as Hugh Glass in the 2015 film, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary in December. The Revenant is based on a true story about Glass, who faces seemingly insurmountable odds on the American frontier when his son is killed, and he is attacked by a grizzly bear.
The Revenant is about to be re-released in IMAX theaters to celebrate its milestone anniversary, and 20th Century Studios has released the trailer, which shows Glass in the snowy wilderness as he admits, "I ain't afraid to die anymore. I done it already."
One of the most memorable scenes from the film is the horrific bear attack, which is also featured in the new trailer. Glass starts to experience a downward spiral after his son's death, as several action-packed and intense scenes unfold. The trailer ends with Glass and his horse falling off a cliff after a surprise attack by the Arikara. Check out The Revenant's 10th anniversary re-release trailer below:
DiCaprio and Hardy's Revenant co-stars include Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, Forrest Goodluck, Paul Anderson, Kristoffer Joner, Duane Howard, Melaw Nakehk'o, Arthur Redcloud, Lukas Haas, Brendan Fletcher, Tom Guiry, Grace Dove, and Fabrice Adde.
Alejandro González Iñárritu directed the film and co-wrote the script with Mark L. Smith. He also served as an executive producer alongside Arnon Milchan, Steve Golin, Mary Parent, Keith Redmon, and James W. Skotchdopole.
Upon its initial release in December 2015, The Revenant earned mostly positive reviews and was Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 78% from critics and an 84% from audiences. DiCaprio's performance, in particular, was singled out as a shining moment in the film.
The Revenant went on to gross $533 million at the box office against a budget of $135 million and was one of the most-talked-about films of the year when awards season got underway.
Aside from DiCaprio's big win, the Oscars awarded Best Director to Iñárritu and Best Cinematography to Emmanuel Lubezki. The Western was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Hardy), Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.
Iñárritu and DiCaprio also won at the Golden Globes, with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Carsten Nicolai receiving a nomination for Best Original Score.
After The Revenant, DiCaprio went on to star in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Don't Look Up, Killers of the Flower Moon, and One Battle After Another.
Over 10 years have passed since the award-winning actor starred in the hugely successful Western The Revenant. The studio is marking the occasion by re-releasing the film in IMAX theaters, with fans now having the opportunity to re-live the acclaimed movie on the big screen.
The Revenant will be re-released in theaters on February 26 and March 1, 2026.
