1000-lb Sisters season 6 recently premiered, and Tammy Slaton has proven to me that she's dedicated to her new lifestyle. The reality television superstar has reached an incredible weight-loss milestone, and it seems like she's just getting started. When Tammy made her television debut in 2020, she weighed over 600 pounds. She was a prisoner of her own body, trapped in her home, and unable to do even basic things for herself. She was miserable and angry, taking her frustrations out on her family or anyone else who made the mistake of crossing her path.
Despite Tammy's general unhappiness and diminished quality of life, the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star seemed set in her ways. Instead of following her doctor's dietary suggestions, she ate whatever she wanted, drank too much alcohol, and spent her days partying with people who didn't have her best interests at heart. By the time season 3 rolled around, she weighed over 720 pounds. After a health scare nearly ended her life, Tammy decided to change her life. Though her commitment to weight loss could have been a fad, I'm now convinced she's dedicated to her incredible weight loss journey.
Tammy Went Down To 303 Lbs
She Was Just Getting Started
The highly anticipated premiere of 1000-lb Sisters season 6 aired recently, and in the first episode of the season, Tammy and the other Slaton siblings went to see the doctor. During the visit, Tammy stepped on the scale and weighed in at 303 pounds. This is incredible considering Tammy weighed 720 pounds at her heaviest before she had bariatric surgery in 2022.

Though 1000-lb Sisters season 6 is currently airing, it was filmed a while ago, so Tammy has lost even more weight since the episode footage was filmed. In August, Instagram influencer Katlyn Foster posted a big update on Tammy's weight loss. In the clip, several women walk on screen with the number of pounds they've lost appearing on the screen beside them. When it was Tammy's turn to step into the frame, I was amazed to see that the screen read she'd lost 500 pounds.
Tammy Is Hoping She Can Get Skin Removal Surgery Soon
It's Holding Her Back
Losing so much weight so quickly has left Tammy with a lot of loose excess skin. Aside from how heavy the extra skin is and how it makes the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star feel about herself, it also presents unique health challenges. For one thing, there's so much of it dangling around her legs that it makes her walk bow-legged. Also, as Tammy explained, she could develop rashes under the folds of her skin. If she's not careful, the rashes could get infected, which can lead to an entire world of hurt.
Understandably, Tammy is eager to rid herself of the constant reminder of a past that she's desperate to move on from and forget.
Though Tammy's eager to lose the excess skin, it's not an easy process. Skin removal surgery is actually several different procedures, each requiring considerable healing time, and costing a fortune. Tammy may be a reality television star, but that doesn't mean she's swimming in money. I'm worried that the downtime will keep Tammy inactive and lead to weight gain, defeating the entire purpose of the painful procedures.
Tammy Is A New Woman Since Reaching Her Weight Loss Milestones
She Changed More Than Just Her Weight
Losing a substantial amount of weight has changed more than Tammy's looks, it changed her personality dramatically too. Since losing weight, the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 cast member feels better about herself and is less angry than she used to be. She has found a deep sense of inner peace and even apologized to her long-suffering family for past treatment. Carrying all the extra weight around was weighing Tammy down in more ways than one. I'm happy the 1000-lb Sisters star has finally lost weight so she can fully enjoy the incredible life she worked so hard to build.
