Shiki, Tsukuyomi, and mondo moonlit fantasy

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy is an isekai anime with a diverse world filled with undead lichs, immortal dragons, and even spiders of calamity. Each character brings a unique set of moves to the series that adds to both their individuality and their overall power. Most isekai anime series have a way for characters to get stronger. In Tsukimichi, the main character Misumi Makoto inadvertently gives several characters a portion of his extreme power when he names them, allowing them to level up.

These characters gain new, exciting powers that add depth to the world of Moonlit Fantasy. While Makoto has shared his strength with a litany of characters, there are several who don't need his help at all. They're strong on their own and may even be able to take the expert archer on in battle.

10 Mondo

The Strongest Forest Ogre

The Forest Ogres are one of the strongest races in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy. While Aqua and Eris are two of the strongest characters working for Makoto, their leader, Mondo, is even stronger. He was possessed by Shiki for the first portion of the series but was still strong enough to survive one of Mio's punches. He might've gotten a little too comfortable while inspecting Makoto, but surviving a shot from the Black Spider of Calamity is no easy feat.

45 Best Anime Series of All Time, Ranked

Anime has exploded in popularity recently, so it's natural to wonder what series in the medium's history rank among the best of the best.

Mondo is so strong he can punch people and turn them into trees. It's one of isekai anime's most broken powers that none of his enemies enjoy facing. Eris and Aqua are already two of Makoto's strongest forces, making their leader's true power a threat Kuzunoha can unleash whenever he wants. He asks Mondo to come to his aid when the Demons begin to invade the city he's in. Mondo makes short work of everyone he comes across.

9 Lancer/Mitsurugi

A Powerful Greater Dragon

Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-

Lancer is one of the few Greater Dragons in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy, already putting him in a league of his own. He's known as the Heavenly Sword Dragon for good reason. Most dragons control fire, ice, or some type of element. Lancer, also called Mitsurugi, controls swords. He can use all the swords he's collected over his long life to devastating effect. While they appear in the form of physical swords, they're actually the souls of all the warriors Lancer has defeated in battle.

He uses his special ability, Cage of Swords, to draw his enemies into the realm where he stores his swords. He's then able to use multiple swords at once, impaling his foes with little effort. If it wasn't for Sofia taming the Greater Dragon, Mitsurugi could have gone on a rampage all by himself.

8 Sofia Bulga

The Dragon Slayer

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Sofia and Lancer the first time they fight Makoto

Sofia Bulga was terrifying the first time she appeared in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy. Makoto was teleported by the Goddess onto a random battlefield against his will. Before he knows what's happening, Sofia Bulga and Lancer ambush him, cutting two of his fingers off in an instant. It's one of the only times Makoto has gotten injured in the series, making the moment even more shocking.

Sofia Bulga is known as the Dragon Slayer. She's on a quest to kill all the Greater Dragons to gain enough power and kill Luto, the strongest Greater Dragon there is. She was even strong enough to beat Mitsurugi, striking a deal with him before they killed each other. If Sofia dies first, she becomes one of his swords. If he dies first, she'll use his remaining lifespan and continue her hunt.

7 Shiki

The Sorcerous Undead Lich

Shiki is an exciting addition to Makoto's main group in Tsukimichi. He starts out as a small antagonist when he infiltrates the Forest Ogres and possesses the powerful Mondo. After his existence is revealed, he's quickly tamed and added to Makoto's forces. As an undead lich, Shiki has lived for a long time and has acquired quite a bit of knowledge. He proves his worth to Makoto in no time, becoming one of the big three right next to Mio and Tomoe.

In battle, Shiki is intelligent, reliable, and lethal. He's the perfect person for Makoto to rely on in the latter parts of the series and can even come up with great plans on the fly. With his help, Makoto will be able to take down any problem that comes his way by relaxing and putting his main man Shiki on the case.

6 Mio

The Black Spider of Calamity

Black Spider of Calamity from Tsukimichi

Before Mio was named by Makoto, she was the Black Spider of Calamity. She was also one of the few characters in Tsukimichi to hurt Makoto, and she got even stronger when she got her name. Now as Mio, she's one of Makoto's most trusted advisors and easily one of his strongest warriors in battle. Mio has insane healing abilities. She can lose entire limbs in battle and not even blink an eye. She can also eat anything, turning her opponent's armor into an appetizer.

Mio's strongest offensive abilities are her darkness powers. She has a strong affinity for darkness magic and is able to absorb her opponent's abilities without much effort. As a spider, she's also completely immune to poison, so her enemies will have to find another way to try and get rid of her.

5 Tomoe

The Invincible Shin

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Season 1 Poster

Tomoe is another Greater Dragon and by far one of the strongest. Before she got the name "Tomoe" from Makoto, she was known as the Invincible Dragon Shin. In her Dragon form, she was known to be nearly invincible in battle and impossible to hit too. She's mastered both water and wind magic to create unreal storms for her opponents. Out of all of her skills, her most impressive is her mastery of time-space magic.

She created the Demiplane, an entire world for Makoto and his people to live in. She can also use her time-space magic to teleport to any battlefield she's needed on in an instant. With her short katana Shirafuji and her long katana Yae Kuro Ryu, she can be just like the samurai she loves so much and dice her opponents up in no time.

4 Luto/Root

The Ancestral Dragon of Heavens

Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy Luto root as a male human

The strongest of all the Greater Dragons, Root is one of the older characters in Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy. He's been around for so long that he started the adventurer's league, hoping to create a place where humanity can get stronger. He stands alone among all the other Dragons as the only Dragon who is actually immortal. While the other dragons die and get reborn, Root never has to die in the first place. He can use all elements masterfully and his magical ability has been compared to that of the Goddess many times.

The best fantasy isekai bring new stories and ideas to a beloved and sometimes cliché genre.

Root's most powerful abilities haven't been put fully on display, but they really don't have to be. Nobody can get to the position Root's in without an absurd amount of knowledge, power, and the ability to use them both together to take out who or whatever stands in his way. He's one of the best dragons in all anime.

3 The Goddess

Very Rude and Very Strong

The Goddess couldn't have been ruder to Makoto when he was getting isekai'd. She was looking for a hero to lead her world and found Misumi. She hated his appearance, calling him ugly to his face when he barely understood where he was. Instead of just putting him in a city, she dropped him off in the middle of a wasteland too. Even though she is by far one of the most hateable characters in anime, she's in another league in terms of power.

While oversaturated, the isekai genre excels when it introduces protagonists that don't just have game smarts, but boast unique knowledge.

She's able to transport Makoto at will the second she finds out where he is. She can also give blessings to heroes and send down gigantic beams of energy onto her enemies. She's got to watch her back, as Makoto is getting stronger quickly and he hasn't forgotten how she treats him.

2 Tsukuyomi

Strong Enough to Give Makoto Powers Before His Hibernation

Tsukuyomi was completely different from the Goddess. While she scorned Makoto for his looks, Tsukuyomi understood the boy's plight and blessed him with what few gifts he had. If Tsukuyomi wasn't so overworked by the other gods, he wouldn't have had to go into hibernation and would've had a much more positive effect on Makoto's life. Even though he couldn't stay long, he was still strong and kind enough to leave Misumi with a couple of bonuses before he headed into his new world.

While Tsukuyomi's skills haven't been put on display in the anime too much, his ability to almost supersede the Goddess means he must be powerful. The gifts he gives Makoto also suggest that the Moon God could be much stronger than he lets on. Maybe when Makoto gets strong enough, he can help Tsukuyomi out and give the god the break he deserves.

1 Misumi Makoto

He May Be Able to Usurp the Goddess One Day

Misumi Makoto is in his own league in the world of Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy. Thanks to a huge, growing pool of mana, buffs from the God of the Moon Tsukuyomi, and great advice from his allies, he's stronger than the Goddess that brought him to his new world. He's so strong, one of his only problems is dealing with his own strength. When he concentrates on shooting his bow, he becomes part of the world and literally disappears from reality. He has never missed a shot with his bow either, decimating entire armies with a single pull.
